Patience, football knowledge, and the ability to innovate would be my assessment.

Patience, football knowledge, and the ability to innovate would be my assessment. Sure wish I could do all of that at the same time... I think innovation is the hardest, especially the older you get. And that's coming from someone who has had an innovative mindset in life in general...Even when you know you need to change, sometimes it's just hard to, the old "get stuck in your ways" adage. I was convinced in my high school years I wouldn't be set in my ways when i got old, but it's already starting to creep in a little over 30...đ |

I like the use of "evolve" in the video, rather than "innovate". I think that teaching (communications) skills have to be up there.

Colin Cowherd (of all people) once said something along these lines when talking about how Nick Saban has changed through the years and I thought it made a lot of sense. He said, âItâs not as important to be right as it is to get it right.â In other words, you donât necessarily have to be the person who develops some killer scheme. You just have to be willing to change and âget it rightâ when the game moves in a different direction. He mentioned Saban being ground and pound in his early Bama years and then being willing to bring in Kiffin after getting stung by some of the offensive innovations weâve seen in the last ten years.
Saban didnât innovate but did evolve.
