But, do you have his phone number so he can argue with you over the phone instead of on here? He’s actually not as big of a turd on the phone as he is on message boards I will take your word for it. I don't like talking on the phone to people I like. |

I'm not on Twitter but am on Facebook and it's the same on there on a lot of pages. A coach will post something like "this is my adjustment when running Buck Sweep vs ____ front, how do you adjust?" And there will be 2 dozen responses from people who believe they're right basically saying "that's wrong! _____ is the only way". There's very little conversation. Or as others have started dozens of guys looking for information without putting in any work. For example I wanted a If/Then for the Wing-T, so I made one using my limited knowledge, answers to questions I'd asked more experienced coaches, and just drawing up defensive adjustments to stop whatever play I wanted to run. I've got what I consider a pretty through If/Then that I'm constantly refining. I personally prefer this site much more. I can ask a question and get an answer from a coach who is humble and reasonable without all the bs, generally speaking. I once was told by a guy at a clinic there was no way humanly possible we could run boot pass away from our TE. I said, well, this is how we do it and then drew it up. But, he persisted and actually said I was stupid for thinking I could do it. I eventually just said "Well, we average 10-20yds a play on it, so I guess it works well enough". |

Right but this has been going on since this message board was created. Guys have been selling content ( Run and shoot, WEst coast offense, gulf coast offense, Oregon, Chiefs rams, Patriots, Tony Demeo Gun option before gun option was option option trade materials, Gus Malzahn offense, Fast break FSU, etc). It's just easier to make content now.
I mean I constantly get emails daily about adding RPo to my game and they are from colleges around the country.
Twitter has a mute button.

Selling a system is one thing; "hey I've put this together and done the hard work, it works for me and I think it can help you or anyone else. Buy it off me and I'll help you install and trouble shoot". Nothing wrong with that, but " this is the silver bullet facemelter, it will melt your face and everyone else's face and if you don't use it you're stupid and doomed to fail" is a lot different.

I was planning to make a post about twitter on here and then saw this. People have contended one of the main reasons this board is a ghost-town shell of its former self is that "twitter is the happening place these days", but every time I try to get on twitter, i dont have much luck finding the kind of discussions had in the past (and occasionally now) on here. Plus, I cant stand the format of twitter for football coaching discussion, it's basically like trying to have a discussion through post-it notes......Here it is organized, searching is decent, etc. Anyone know of any decent places on twitter they can point me to where these great discussions are supposedly being had? #HogFBChat #ALFBChat #TXHSFBChat #NoFlyZoneChat #FLHSFBChat Those are good places to start, i like following people who post content (Images/Film/Playbook sheets, etc) which is why I try and do the same. |

Shameless plug. @rsrsites on Twitter. Need some graphics? Hit me up. I've been doing this since 2000. Have a messageboard that is older than Huey's with only 100 members. The diehards that keep it real. I'm 49 years old, but still trying to learn and grow. I can talk a little 425 D and some special teams. Not sure if anything I've used I've created on my own. But the chit has worked more than it hasn't.  Proud Huey card holder since 2006. |

I have been a member/lurker since I first started coaching. When I found coachhuey.com it was like finding a gold mine. It definitely is not the same as it was 20 years ago but there is still an invaluable amount of answers to questions you can find here.
Twitter - ask a question in the right area and get 20 answers very quickly. Here not so much.
On twitter you also have the intermix of peoples political views intertwined with their football views. I would rather go someplace and just talk football even if there is the occasional person who wants to puff out their chest. Everyone is still coming from the same place on coachhuey.com. Trying to get better or help each other out.
I deleted the twitter app and really only use it in lurker mode to keep up with news and occasionally research a topic with video content.
I would say though that twitter and coachhuey both have a block or mute button.

I've learned practically nothing from Twitter. There's some neat ideas out there and I love people that actually have video of stuff, but it's not structured in a way that my brain absorbs anything. I can't do those #chats, it's the wrong format for me. Discord is better, but still not great. I rather like the message board format, tbh.
Dan Casey and James Light both share cool clips of neat plays, schemes, etc., that I find pretty neat, but I'm not writing any of those down or anything.
Much rather read a book than just about anything else, but that's just me and my dorky brain.
But yeah, FB Coach Twitter is... not it. Especially the weird virtue signaling shizz you see every so often.

Yes..so much more of it..It works because some coaches would just rather purchase a whole system instead of doing the work This is exactly my problem with BFS. Oddly, the BFS people I know are also the Facemelter purchasers. The entire "#BuildYourBrand" culture is insufferable. Coaching or otherwise. BFS is an interesting comparison as the program is older than some of these guys posting. I used BFS in the past because I knew it was a complete program used by colleges and adapted to HS..Really in those days there really wasn't much info to go around. They had years of data, books,and magazines articles to refer to. To me, you need to evaluate what you are purchasing..some of it is good...some not some much. for instance, some of the glazier programs like pat Fox are very good... |

It really seems like up until around a year or so ago that twitter was a great resource for football information and most of the ego's were set aside etc. Now it seems like sooooo many coaches are chasing clout and trying to sell "systems" that are made up of things everyone has been doing for decades! I guess, to me, it use to feel more laid back and more coaches banding together to share info. Just doesn't feel that way anymore. 3-4 quarters defensive system |

What kills me on twitter are the guys who post playbook diagrams of a defense or offensive play seconds after it just happened during a game on TV. Half the time I think they are just making chit up to look smart.
The other thing that drives me crazy on twitter (and this may sound stupid cause it even sounds stupid to me) is how knowledge is valued over experience. Someone can regurgitate Bama/Georgia/Whoever O of D and people flock to them as experts but they have coached like 5 games in their career. And I get lack of on field success doesn't necessarily mean you're a scrub as a coach but lack of experience is a different matter to me.
