We have had 18 starters miss at least one full game this year, also lost a kid one game for discipline issues, a projected starter miss whole season because he blew his knee out in camp, and two starters not play in second halves.
This is the worst string of injuries I have seen ever. I have been with teams that have lost the best player and it might have hurt worse, but we simply aren’t the same team we were at the beginning of the year because of all of these ailments.
What’s the worst amount of injuries you guys have had to endure?

At one point during the second half of our playoff game a couple weeks ago, we were playing our 3rd and 4th CBs, our 4th safety, and our 5th OLB. There were even more out on offense. A couple of the OLBs got hurt early in the season, otherwise all the other injuries happened in the two games prior to the playoff game.

That is quite alot for a season i dont really think ive had a season like that. However, this year we played a powerhouse school in our league (my first year at the school) and at one point in the game we had 5 players removed from the game with concussion-like symptoms, and 2-3 others with other varying injuries from that game, as well as my two main RB's claiming injury prior to the game. So that was perhaps the worst in game experience ive experienced.

We had one year where we started our 4th, 5th and 6th RBs in a double wing system. Shockingly we went 0-3 in the three game stretch they were our starters.
But the worst season of injuries probably happened in one night. 8 two way starters left the game. 3 concussions, 2 ankle breaks, 1 flu (kid puked 16 times during game- we eventually mercy killed him), 1 knee and 1 I don't remember. To top it off, the Hudl wouldn't upload and I didn't leave the school until 3:30 am

percentage wise- this year. 8 Man team, we had 13 to start the season.
Lost a starting WR after week 3, broke his hand playing flag football in PE. Two weeks after that lost our starting guard/Sam LB who tore a ligament in his neck tearing up carpet at a new house he was moving into. Few weeks after that our starting QB for a while after he got stung by a sting ray on his foot (deep sting that went very far, tried to play but was bleeding through his cleat). Had our best player, RB/CB who missed about 12 quarters combined throughout the year due to a consistent ankle injury mixed with carrying a heavy load.
This is not to mention the random injuries that crept up throughout the season, and significant number of stomach flu's. We averaged 9.5 healthy a game; opponent suited up 21 on average.
Weirdest season with injuries was about a decade ago, decent sized public school with about 50 on varsity. Lost two kids, including starting center, with appendicitis; lost a third kid (all league nose guard) who couldnt poop for a week. Then both starting OLBs went down with breaks right before the playoffs.

About 5 years ago we went into our 2nd to last game with 4 starters from the 1st game, all 4 were 2 way starters. Not all injuries. It happened to be our only win of the season. QB- shoulder RB-hip flexor FB- started both ways had a huge game WR- started both ways had a huge game WR- had an invite to MLB fall workout- got drafted played DI baseball OT- knee OT- concussion OG- started both ways OG- academic issue C- started both ways TE- missed the bus
Defense: DT- started at C DE- started at G N- substance violation DT- academic- different kid than OG LB- started at FB LB- got in a fight at school LB- concussion SS- knee FS- starter at WR C- ankle C- part of fight at school- tried to break it up and ended up throwing the punch that ended- looked good on security camera.
The back up TE was a kid we convinced to come out in week 4 to get in shape for BB- he caught 1 pass for a TD adn dunked it on the goal post- they took the penalty on the kick-off and we had an off-sides. We ended up giving them the ball on the 20 yard line going in. The LB/FB kid blitzed, hit QB as he was throwing, FS/WR intercepted it and returned it 85 yards and as he was going into the end zone fumbled, they recovered and tried to run it out and we ended up getting a safety then scored on the next possession. The most exciting 3 minutes of football that entire season.

This year. But most have been small (or ridiculous). We have one fairly significant injury to one of our best players but he only missed one game and has continued playing. But we’ve had kids miss games for soreness and heartburn.
We went on a 6 game win streak during which one starter was out each game for some ridiculous reason (soft injury, fight, etc.). It kind of became a thing where we just waited for something dumb to happen.
Crazy, crazy year. The heart of of team is tough, but the fringes of our starting lineup is young and a little soft. Overall we’ve had a great year, but it’s been strange.

A couple years back in one playoff game we had three starting OL get hurt, that sucked. We were not very deep there for the size of our school so had to cobble together a starting lineup for the next couple weeks. A kid that was our opening week starting quarterback ended up starting at OT for a couple games, a couple 160 lb guards...it was an interesting playoff run for sure.

This year has been pretty rough for us. Lost 1 player who is committed to Tennessee, and lost another player who is a junior who has offers from 10 D1 FBS programs both to ACL tears.

I don't remember years where we had an inordinate number of injuries but there were games where we were hurt by injuries at the same position. In one game we were down to our #7 DB, a 5'6" freshman who was up from JVs. He grew into a very good player but that night the matchup between him and the 6'2" future second round draft choice the other guys had did not favor us.
Another time we went into a playoff a heavy underdog. On the first play our future D.1 TB broke a 17 yard run. Unfortunately, he also broke his ankle. Our #2 was already out with an injury so we had to go with #3, a talented but nervous, fumble-prone freshman. After a couple of series he also came down with an "injury". I don't remember who finished the game. It wasn't pretty.

This year's going to end up being near the top. We had to rebuild our offensive line before the season started, with one returning starter and one kid who played a little. We had about 8 total--not players, mind you, just bodies. By the time we started conference play, we had 7 linemen injured. We've been converting kids to offensive line all year--and we keep getting them injured, including our best lineman. Two of them have managed to play every game, but the rest has been a rotating shuffle of who's healthy this week. In addition, we've had another 3-4 starters and another handful of backups at other positions miss games. Playing for the conference championship this week we have our starting left tackle back (270 lb junior), a left guard who goes about 165 and never played other than mop up on defensive line before this year, our starting center at 240, a junior right guard who goes 190, and a short, overweight sophomore tackle who played JV last week. Mind you, we play in the largest classification in the state. We have yet to play a game in which we werent' missing at least two of our offensive line starters.

This has been our worst year.
On a roster of 36, we've had 4 season ending injuries to some of the best players in our program's history.
1.) Only Power 5 commit in our school's history - DE/TE...…..breaks collarbone game one
2.) School's single season rushing leader in 2018 as a sophomore (2,300 yards in 12 games)……..break ankle game one
3.) Strongest kid in our program's history. 15 year old power cleaning 315 lbs. DT/OL.....ACL tear game 4
4.) 3 year starter at OL/DL......starting Center, runs the show......ACL tear first round of playoffs
And yet, because of some depth and a good Q, we are sitting 11-1, just won a sectional title and are angling for a regional title this week.
The silver lining? 3 of these guys will be back next year.

Ha...child's play. This season was nothing like I've ever seen in my career...
RB- had to move to starting QB; back up missed two games to hamstring WR- season ending nerve injury (missed last two games); backup groin injury (missed two games) WR- season ending heel fracture (missed last two games) WR- season ending ligament damage to wrist (missed 4 games) LT- season ending ACL tear (1st scrimmage); back up foot injury (missed two games); 3rd string foot (missed 1 game) LG- season ending ACL tear (missed 8 games); back up removed from roster after multiple absences (no show/two games) C- started both ways RG- started both ways RT- started both ways QB- knee injury; removed from roster after discipline issue (missed 5 games)
Defense: DT- freshman (out one game due to concussion) DT- started at RG DE- started at RT DE- converted LB LB- season ending multiple separated shoulders (missed 9 games) LB- season ending thumb injury (missed 6 games); back up LB was back up LG (missed two games) LB- season ending discipline issue (missed 4 games); back up (father pulled him week 6 -got a C in an AP class) SS- concussion - (missed 4 games) FS- season ending ACL (missed 8 games) C- converted back up safety; 3rd string back up had season ending ACL C- played gimpy most of the season; held it together with duct tape and guts
From my original roster of 37, 23 finished the season.
Of those 37, 20 missed one game (or more) due to injury.
We knew we'd be young. And then we were young AND injured...0-9

I have been with teams that have lost the best player and it might have hurt worse, but we simply aren’t the same team we were at the beginning of the year because of all of these ailments. What’s the worst amount of injuries you guys have had to endure? In my second year coaching, I was at a small school that always struggled with numbers. We got up to 28 players at the start of the season. By season's end, we were down to moving whoever we could to OL and DL just to fill holes. We had one kid who started as a WR and CB but wound up starting for us at LG and OLB before he got hurt. When you account for the fact that so many kids started for us both ways, it was even worse. We had 10 different kids who started games for us on the OL suffer season-ending injuries, plus that WR/DB and another kid who was starting at LB and TE. So out of 28 kids, we had 12 season ending injuries--a whopping 43% of our team before our final game was over! This year I was without our top *8* DTs for most of the year and lost 2 of our top 5 OL for the season before the end of our first game. That was rough, too. We did not have that much depth.
