So we were just notified at about 3:00 this afternoon that the county health department is shutting the school down for the rest of the week due to an outbreak of whooping cough. All practices, games, etc. are cancelled. Our Friday game has been postponed to Monday, but we aren't allowed to meet or practice in any fashion before Monday. Then we will play the following weeks game on Saturday instead of Friday so we can meet the states requirement for number of days required between games.
P.S. I'm the same guy that posted a thread about 5 weeks ago where our road game got cancelled because our whole team came down with food poisoning and couldn't get out of the bathroom. Been a strange year haha.
We once played a game on a Monday that was postponed because of air quality due to forest fires. Played That Friday as well. Got 'special dispensation' (See Two Mules For Sister Sara) from the state association (CIF) to do that.

Wow that's a short week. We did the Monday to Saturday turnaround 6 or 7 years ago during the playoffs because of a fire. But that week we got to practice at least. This will be pretty weird to show up Monday without a practice under our belt.
We got to do about an hour of walk through after school today as the closest thing to an organized "practice", and then we do pregame for about 40 minutes before kickoff.
Kids actually handled it pretty well, we cut way down on the play script and tried to do a few things well. First quarter was pretty disjointed and our special teams were ugly all night, but we kind of settled in once we saw what they were doing a couple times at game speed. It helps that the opponent was bad.
Now we will install for the next game tomorrow and hopefully get a couple practices in before playing on Saturday.
We had to play our Section Title game on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving after a Friday night game because they didn't want to interfere with the Holiday weekend. Also, the game was 6 hours away. We got home at 6:00AM Thanksgiving morning.
We were fortunate enough to win our regional title this week, but we played it on a Monday night. We got over our whooping cough outbreak, but this time our opponent got it before their second round game. They ended up playing their second round game on a Wednesday because they needed time to get kids and coaches vaccinated, so we had to play the third round game on a Monday. It just keeps getting weirder haha, now we play this Saturday in the semi-final.
