Buy a visor and a blank play card that has a retractable chord. Those are like a decoder ring.

^^ Play card needs to be at least the size of a waffle house menu and have multiple color coded sections.
If you're more specific on this site with your questions then you will get some really strong answers. Also reading through old threads is really valuable.

Every coach has their own terminology. You gotta just find something that makes sense to you, and stick with it.

Never be afraid to ask. There is no such thing as universal terminology.

Some terms are, indeed common eg. "Cover 0/1/2/3/4" etc. I know of no book or publication that outlines such things. Coaches make them up to fit into their own program. Perhaps you can tell us which terms you've heard and would like to have translated?

Virginia Tech Robber was Cover 5 for us only because the other numbers were taken. Exactly. We use "Bandit" because sometimes our robber is actually IN the front. He's a flex! Two different things. We use Cover A/B/and C Vs. triple receivers because sometimes we want different things from our DB's who are aligned over the trips, (#'s 1, 2, and 3) and couldn't use Cover 1, 2, or 3. Those were already taken. The point is...figure what you need to communicate and if you hear someone else using terms you don't recognize, just ask. It might be something you already do...("Oh, yeah...that's our Cover 6."). We execute Banjo, but call it "Flip". The word "Switch" we use somewhere else. A few "universal" terms (if there are such) are "Overhang"...leverage...cushion...press etc. But you'll always find someone, somewhere, who does that...but calls it something else.

Even those aren't universal. To me, as an OL coach, a walkaway apexing in the flat (How's THAT for some terminology?) isn't a threat. A guy in a ghost 9, one step outside of the 5 tech is a problem.
