What do you look for or what questions do you ask when interviewing students to be team managers? Do you make them fill out a form like an employee and have them sign a paper. Just looking for ideas.

Our interviews usually go like this: "You want to be a manager? OK.".

Very good points made above. It is hard enough to find them, but once you have them, make sure the athletes treat them well. A player can be replaced, but it is hard to replace a good manager.

I pretty much accept every one, i do make them write 1 page about WHY they want to be a manager... i dont even read them, i just do it to weed out some of the dumb/lazy ones
they can be dumb but they cant be dumb AND lazy

If they have a pulse, they've got the job (but they're warned that if they become a distraction they won't be allowed back). We have them fill out the same packet that an athlete would so we're covered just in case something were to happen to them.

Managers are so difficult to find! That said, our selection process involves the prospect having to answer two questions. If the aspiring manager can answer "no" to either question, he (or she) is hired. The two questions are: 1) Have you ever had sex with a farm animal. 2) Did anyone see you?

I would be wary of girlfriends wanting to be managers. I had to deal with that last year. A couple of times our water breaks turned into an episode of Maury or Springer's show.

Mangers are hard to find. You want a reliable kid who isn't there for fart around. You want him to understand the duties. I say "him" but it could be a girl. The nice thing about having boys as managers is they can also go right into the locker room and help the coaches with stuff in there.
