It's all in fun. Gives kids something extra to get pumped up about. I like it. Enjoy your turnover charm bracelet. We have a legit WWE championship belt for the turnover champ. I thought we were the only place that did something like this and we didn't start it. Kids love it, fans love it and it doesn't take away from anything. Just another positive reinforcement tool

I understand why people do that kind of stuff such as championship belts, chains, etc. But whatever happened to doing something good because it was good for the team? And coach and teammates giving him a slap on the helmet and saying "Good job"

It's all in fun. Gives kids something extra to get pumped up about. I like it. I like it too. It's fun, the kids love it, and it doesn't show up the other team. It's recognition by the team rather than a player calling attention to himself. Let's not forget that it's a game. It's suppose to be fun so,why not? Not sure it doesn't show up the other team, but I will concede that point. I think it is ALL about individual player attention. But I will again concede that point. I don't like it because it I don't want to have to jump around and get all fired up when down 35-0 and we get a turnover. Tennessee trash can dude. That is just hilarious. Had to carry above his shoulders all game. One kid went to dunk it and missed. Pretty much resembled their season. LOL. Plus, you have to keep one upping each other team and create something new for it to be cool. All that just seems fake to me along with being a pain.

I guess that’s why the two most successful teams in NCAA and NFL are the two most boring in Bama and NE then right?

Obviously. I guess that’s why the two most successful teams in NCAA and NFL are the two most boring in Bama and NE then right? True. But I do think Bama started this whole turnover belt thing. Which brings me to another point. Programs that start that, cool. Oregon and multiple uniforms, cool. Bama and belt, cool. Etc. Everyone else, copycat.

I do have to admit, however that although I don't necessarily like them, these new NFL endzone celebrations don't bother me that much because they're getting everyone involved. It's not about 1 guybgetting a cell phone and making a call or something like that.

I recently returned from a two-year service mission for my church, and during that time I didn’t keep up with much of anything in the football world beyond who won the Super Bowl haha. So, since the summer of 2015 have there been any major developments in the game of football? Rules? Culture? X & O’s? Has the Facemelter taken the world by storm yet? 😉 etc. I know it’s a rather broad question, but I’d love to hear anything you coaches got! some interested federation rule changes.. they are still trying to figure out what the free blocking zone means it seems... oh and no more pop kicks (idk what yall call them) on kickoffs (topping the ball and having it pop over the 1st line.)other then that.. just trying to keep the sport from going away entirely. did anyone know that the way around this rule---if you set the ball on the ground instead of a tee. you can then kick the top and pop it up. had a ref tell me that is how to get away with it. if you have a soccer kid taht is good, he can do it. we never tried it, as our kicker sucks fat sacks of bbq balls....lost 2 games in overtime this fall because he cant make a PAT(rushed the kick) or game winner fg(from the 1 yd line, in essence a PAT). hate kickers.

Is this something Smart’s replacement started? I have never seen an Alabama turnover anything.

And coach and teammates giving him a slap on the helmet and saying "Good job" What happened to being able to keep your doors unlocked and $.05 cokes? What happened to being able to wear a visor even if you were an under center offensive coordinator? What happened to a coach being able to take a shot of syrup out of a lineman's navel? It's the world we live in and I graduated high school 15 years ago and would have loved something like that but I never knew it until I came here. I don't see the difference in this and giving away helmet stickers for individual accomplishments. Cars are no longer made of steel, doctors don't have their favorite brand of cigarettes and championship turnover belts are fun.

Kids love it, fans love it and it doesn't take away from anything. Just another positive reinforcement tool I'm with ya. We have a legit belt as well. It's our defensive POTW award. The players clap for each other when they get it. The winner wears it to school on Fridays. Most of the students at the school know about it and it's become (like you said) another way to recognize guys who play well. It's all in fun and it's not always about stats. Play your butt off, work hard, and play a good game. It works. Not that it matters, but we beat Bama to the punch on using a belt

Everyone must now have some gawdy, stupid, god damned gimmick for every turnover created. (God I hate what we're doing to this game sometimes.) Lol! ...we might be adding a bitten surf board because are defense’s nickname is the “Sharks”.

Not necessarily a turnover chain type of deal, but I've got this great idea that I'm going to run by our AD & HC. It's the facemelter (Is the facemelter still a thing or am I living in the past still?) of chains/awards...
I call it the "Good Job" ribbon. It's far cheaper than making a trophy or a chain that a kid wears on the sideline. This prestigious ribbon goes to the player(s) that kinda just stands there and doesn't do anything special or phenomenal. We have to make sure we have 100 ribbons per game and wind up giving everyone at least 2 ribbons at the end of the game, but not too many...because that is what matters most, right? Participating = Winning

That being said...I don’t think celebrating individual successes within a team’s missions or goals is a bad thing. I am a lineman and linemen coach...spread the love!

Tennessee hired a coach, then they didn't. Then they almost hired one, but didn't. Then they hired another one, but didn't. Then they tried to hire another one, but didn't. Then they offered one, but didn't hire him. Then they hired a new AD. Still no coach.
But you probably knew all this, it's just been a week.

We've sucked for near a decade, but no one does a coaching search quite like Tennessee.
