7-1 on Saturday. Coaches only. -All film breakdown -All scout cards drawn -DC finishes scripts on his own time (coordinators will have a slightly longer day). -Off Sunday. I agree with one of the guys who already said everyone's free time is important no matter how it is spent. I am happy our HC thinks that way as well. We don't watch the film as a group. We complete the breakdown individually (everyone has a job), come together to look at tendencies, and figure out our adjustments/personnel. Care to share a rough breakdown as to what each of those assignments everyone has is? Always looking to streamline the approach.

Along those lines... you guys that do these entire staff devotionals... I couldn't work for you. You want to say a prayer before we eat by all means get after it I'll join in too, but a staff devotional or bible study for an extended period of time... Let's focus on the work and lets leave the personal stuff like religion and biblical theory and interpretation at home and personal where it belongs. Agreed.

Down, Distance, Yard line, hash, gain/loss Formation, play, personnel, run/pass, hash, field zone Motion, target. There are a few other columns we fill in as well. I think we save the most time by starting to tag film on Thursday on our own time. Thursday is a walk-thru. Usually a few guys will start to tag the two films that we traded already (we trade either Wed. or Thurs.). Saturday, we only have to watch our team tape and tag the scout from the night before. Everyone helps with cards. Some Saturdays can be longer, but I can enjoy my free time much better when my work is done before the LSU or Nicholls State games start. Sunday is lesson planning for my class.

For meetings. Best thing/times to do them. Depends on how you look at things. For me, 7 AM on Saturday is best spent taking a leak and going back to bed.

That's even too early for me on Saturday's, but in the grand scheme of things..... We were/are 8-9:00ish-Noon. The guy I'd worked for who originally started doing this first told me about these Saturday morning meetings, and I was dreading them & that's when I was still "young" (mid-late 20's) and single....but, what he said would happen; happened. "You aren't going to sleep anyway on Friday nights...too wound up....might as well come on in; get in...get out...be done until Monday afternoon." My dad was/is like you, though when it came to meetings. When I was with him; we did the Sunday thing....defensive guys were REAL EARLY BIRDS; they'd roll in there about 6:00 AM Sunday and be done before Church.......then myself and others would come in with Dad about 6:00 Sunday evening. If he's not fishing or hunting (which is a lot); he's not getting up before the sun....nor am I. Which brings me to another point.....Turkey season comes in here in KY on Saturday; I take it you'd be passing on that invite of rising at 4:30-5:00 AM for the next month?! hahaha

I feel that, but I'd rather have my 7PM free, I think starting a 9 AM on a saturday is fair. I'll add this, I was once on a staff that had coaches meet on saturday at 7 AM; I was never later than 6:50 all season....the HC never arrived before 7:20 all season (though mostly after 7:30). There are a lot of coaches out there who don't understand punctuality, unless you are wasting their time.

Does anyone not meet on Sunday but meet Monday before school? I had a friend who is a HC try it this year. he didn't like how it went, felt his staff didn't do enough prep b4 the meeting. We don't do it because we lift and watch film b4 practice
