I saw that last night. Fantastic way to go out, lol..
But, that's easy to do when you've got 30 years of coaching under your belt.

I thought that was pretty tame.

I thought that was pretty tame. Admittedly, when I first heard the story, I was expecting something much more explosive. I was a little disappointed by what the guy actually wrote. With that being said, it certainly is more pointed than any resignation letter I have ever wrote.

I thought the best part was the intro where it said that he detonated his bridge like the Joker detonating a hospital. The letter itself was pretty lame. Harsher than any I have written or would write, but not a big deal.

I read it like he made significant edits because he realized he was likely to be deposed in some of the mentioned legal proceedings.

I like it, but after I read it through the first time I was thinking, "that's it?". I was expecting a little more,... like stay out of the supply closet, superintendent so and so and Ms. Davis....blowing up affairs or any kind of wrong doing would be scorched earth.

I love it... basically sounds like the one I submitted about a month ago here at the school-level.

If you have FU money, can retire and go out on your own terms, the resignation letter definitely could have been punched up a little bit.

I love it... basically sounds like the one I submitted about a month ago here at the school-level. prove it I even kept some of it generic with the last paragraph "other things I have been uncomfortable with" because I was focusing mostly on how the academic standards as a whole are severely lacking not just in our program, but in the school in general. When the principal pulled me in to speak with me, I pointed out all the other stuff that I didn't put into my letter. www.dropbox.com/s/uoi4l1fnq4kmp1h/Copy%20of%20LOR.pdf?dl=0

Reading some of the stuff on this board has really made me appreciate the current staff I'm a part of and most of the previous ones I've been on. Seriously...

well, that was a resignation letter, hopefully you sent that to the school board president so it will be seen by several eyes, if you just sent it to adm it might not go anywhere

It certainly isn't smart, but I am glad he did that. It is amazing what school boards/superintendents/administrators can get away with. The public usually has no idea.

Has anyone ever had administration meet with them and ask them to change their letter if it was very negative?

Has anyone ever had administration meet with them and ask them to change their letter if it was very negative? I was actually positive with the letter I wrote when I was leaving my first teaching job, thanked the administration and school board for the opportunity and guidance, etc. It was still handed back to me, because literally all they wanted and would accept was "I, first name last name, resign my teaching and coaching duties effective at the conclusion of the school year."

I so badly want to burn a bridge with where I'm at now:
-Unsupportive admin -Bipolar head coach -Massively unhappy former pro player who takes his anger out on kids -Insanely inefficient hours -Causing us to extra duty with zero extra pay -Openly condescending to me because I'm young -Kids really don't work hard at all, only hear from parents when they're unhappy about playing time -Being lied to about what position I'd coach -Spending hours gameplanning but never teaching our kids how to block or tackle -Always blaming others for problems, never taking accountability for things ourselves.
Holy {censored} I need to resign....even writing this makes me realize it. But I'm young and don't have a super experienced resume yet, so can't afford to burn a bridge anywhere.
