Does anybody use practice pants during the week? We tried matching shorts this year but had issues because kids wore them to school and by the end of the year only about 50% of the kids wore them every day. Just trying to clean up the look of practice.

Just trying to clean up the look of practice. We let them wear their own but they have to be school colors. We give them a pair too. This way they can wear their wrestling basketball or track shorts too. Less laundry for kids too. The coaches who coach the other sports like the free advertising as well.

We only wear practice pants once, maybe twice during the season and that is for pre-season scrimmages. Other than that they are in 5-pad girdles and volleyball knee pads. We give them shorts and t's at the start of the season and stress that we would really like them to be in our gear/school colors, but that's really not high on the 'Things that will make the coach blow' list. I don't seem to have ever gotten an additional 2 points from the ref's at the end of a game for having the Best Practice Look during the week. Or for having the Best Huddle Clap. Or for having all the players in their helmets during the game. So I don't obsess about those items.

We never wear practice pants! On days where we are full pads, they players wear their padded girdle and we give them volleyball knee pads. Saves a TON OF TIME on laundry!

I found that if we wore practice pants early in the season, we got into game shape quicker. What we've done the past two years is start the season in practice pants, then put on shorts (w/ 5 point girdles and knee pads) around week 4. It brings a nice psychological lift as the kids feel lighter.

we wear full gear every day (that doesnt mean we hit every day) - kids get 2 pairs of pants with built in pads at the beginning of the year. one set for practice, one set for games.

We wore practice pants a lot this year. In a sense it was convenient, I guess, but we didn't really hit enough and I don't know if it was worth it.
In the past it's basically been a free-for-all on shorts/pants/sleeves etc at practice because I frankly don't care.

What I want to do next year
5 pocket girdle under shorts every single day
keep knee pads in your locker and put them in your game pants only
i dont believe knee pads help you at all, even when we wear practice pants all of our kids push them up way above their knee anyway (cuz everyone on TV does it)
and we always have a few kids who try to practice without them, they lose them, we make them run for it
wasting everyone's time
more rules = more you have to police
id rather just tell them keep knee pads in locker, put them in game pants or even
we just collect knee pads and re distribute them on game day so they don't get the opportunity to lose them

We just did the regular week of full gear and then shorts and shoulder pads for pre game this year. I imagine that's usually how it is?
