I have seen some of you saying that you use a practice script that is 25 5 minute periods or 35 4 minute periods. I can't find where any of you explained how it works though? Does someone have an example of this that I can look at? Thanks for your time!

We practice both O and D every day. And have about an hour. We alternate days we go O and D first. Our Tues def practice looks something like this.
Prepractice-warmup. Punt return and KO return. 1. Pursuit 2. Short Yardage 3. Short Yardage 4. Indy 5. Indy 6. Indy 7. 40s and water 8. Inside run 9. Inside run 10. 7 on 7 11. 7 on 7 12. Team 13. Team 14. H2O and switch.
Each period is 5 min.

I've been using the 5-minute schedule since I started coaching the youth level. It's like using the wrist coaches, it's just another method of doing something, but by it's nature it places restrictions on you as a coach. With a wrist coach you can't just put things together, this route with that route off the fly. When using a tight schedule like this it forces me to look at what I really have to do, what is really important, and figure out how to fit it into the span that I have available to me.
I also figure that if I'm going to do something that it is important. I've been on too many staffs where there's always 1 more rep, 1 more drill, 1 more something, which all eat up time so the coach either cuts practice without getting something done, or they just keep extending practice end time. My coaches had a tough time this when we started this summer but they are on board now, they know they have to come prepared and know what they need to do in the time they have.
The reality is that when you really start looking at what you need to do, what you want to do, and the time you have, it never fits. Something has to be a higher priority than something else and doing a 5-minute schedule helps identify what is really important.
At least it does in my little warped world.

Here is an outline (with some redactions) I use to use as the DC. Our Tues/Wed were both off. and Def but had an emphasis towards one or the other (giving them more time). This is a first period Monday schedule we used one week last year for a specific opponent. The template remains constant but the content changes as needed. The first period only is shown. The first period is preceded by warm-ups and INDY's...then each coach takes his group for the 18 minute period. There are usually 6 periods per practice day. We platoon.
PERIOD 1 DEFENSE LINE
(1) 6 min. pass rush (2) 6 min screen pass recognition (3) 6 min. TGOG Over
DEFENSE LINEBACKERS
(1) 6 min. pass pressures (2) 6 min. screen recovery (3) 6 min. motion react/outside seal
DEFENSE SECONDARY
(1) 6 min. trips default coverage and recognition (2) 6 min. double # 1 A (3) 6min. cover 3 roll/sky
end hydrate.
PERIOD 1 OFFENSE LINE
(1) 6 min. 6 pass pro slide (2) 6 min. drop back 5 pro (cup) (3) 6 min. your time
OFFENSE BACKFIELD
(1) 6 min. angle (2) 6 min. iso and iso-trap. (3) 6 min. counter-trap from toss
OFFENSE RECEIVERS
(1) 6 min. moveout base package (2) 6 min. moveout base package (3) 6 min. introduce SECTION-SLIDE end hydrate
From here, move to the next period and each coach has 18 minutes for his group in PERIOD 2.
