I'm thinking of suggesting to our coach that we use a "chain". Strips of paper where each kid writes his name, year, number, and personal goal. Tape each paper as a loop to another and form a "chain" to hang in the locker room. I think it's a good visual to demonstrate:
1) Don't be the weakest link in our chain. That's where we will fall apart 2) If somebody quits, we have the visual of physically removing their link and re-attaching a new chain 3) If we add somebody new, we have the visual of physically adding their link and growing our chain.

Just a few others
1. We come out as a group, no individual announcement 2. We give every kid a birthday present - small bag with food 3. end of the summer cookout and variety show - they LOVE the variety show
