What are some good routines for warming up for games and or practice? Our routine seems dull and lethargic, I am not into false bravado and a bunch of useless flapping of jaws but want to start games and practices with more energy and hype.

Start practice with a 5 minute tempo session Or some sort of competition Gets the energy flowing
For games I like to warm up like our practice We go through a few mins each of all of our EDDs (OL)

We do pre practice/ game similar to colleges we've visited: we stretch by position. We have combined this dynamic stretch with EDD (everyday drills). It's made our warms up more focused, and that gives us more freedom during Indy time since our basic drills/ fundamentals are done as we stretch.

Do the kids feel that way or do you? In my experience, when coaches ask about stuff like this it's not because of the kids, it's because the coach is bored.

The first coaching clinic I went to was at Ohio State in 1976.
The second day (Saturday) we got to watch a Spring practice-scrimmage.
When they started to warm up (Flexibility-stretching) I was surprised because it was the most laissez-faire, informal thing I had ever seen.
This was shocking to me because my college coach was all about organization and enthusiasm in everything.
But, once the Buckeyes began scrimmaging - holy cow, it got loud and intense in a hurry.

I hate warmups. Waste of damn time. I like the way our rugby team did in: Backs would run around for an hour. Scrummers would show up. flex their neck, than go at it. Never saw a scrummer pull a muscle.

We do no warmups before practices and a 5 minute one before games which is really just a pump up. You don't warmup if you need to go in a game suddenly except running onto the field. Don't mind others doing warmups. Just won't waste time on it.

Don't do too much. When I played in a JV game, we were doing wind sprints 5 minutes before kickoff. We were out there for 45 minutes in full pads, ran to the sideline, got a squirt of water, and ran out for the kickoff. I was gassed
