No one is "degrading" anyone. Except maybe, YOU. So I guess admitting any wrong doing would make you a "hippie" right. Lets not get into a "contest" here...I'd hate for you to lose your amateur standing.

1 on 1's can be helpful. Than can also be a waste of time. All depends on what's discussed. Talking about personal and team goals, grades, what they'll be doing in the winter and spring for sports, how they'll better themselves, are all things that are helpful to you and them. I think getting into asking them about practices, coaching style, etc is a waste of time.

I like making them more player specific. Once the season ends, I immediately write down all the negative thoughts I had throughout the year. Here are a couple player-specific examples.
1. You once referred to yourself as a "grown ass man." Can you give me examples of how this is so? 2. You had 2 15 yard penalties this year. What are some things you can do to make sure you not only do stuff like this on the field, but show more discipline off of it?
