Just bought a pair of Haggar performance slacks. Very comfy. Had a black pair last year, got tan this time around. Very lightweight, wick material.

I used Nikeid a couple of years back to buy game shoes....goretex...your feet don't get wet no matter what. Every couple of years, I move them to practice shoes and get another pair. I guess they still make them...a little pricey, but your feet stay dry.

Best shoes: new balance 950 black/black baseball umpiring shoe. Water tight, light weight and comfortable.

I ordered a pair of the Under Armour coaching slacks from Football America. Won't be wearing them this week as they have to be hemmed up for anyone that orders them (I would think!). They are pretty expensive though I will go ahead and tell you guys. They do have some cheaper options but I figured I would fork out a little bit since everyone seems to mention them and I have seen no complaints really. Going with some Old Navy special black shorts this week though!

I wore Adidas 3 stripe tech khakis last Friday in sweltering conditions--they were great.

I'm a simple man...I wear Wranglers, nothing else.
As for shoes, I wear whatever the HC picks out, Adidas have been the best but UA's are pretty nice too.

I always bought a Nike baseball coaching shoe. Not the most comfortable, but they were leather on top. I hated walking through the morning dew and having soaking wet feet by end of practice. Edit:They also became my "go to" game shoes in October when the fields and sidelines started getting sloppy. This is a great point. The leather is key. As far as the khakis, Nike golf has some really nice ones, but I've always been a J. Crew guy myself.

C9 by Champion from Target are $30.00 a pair. They marketed as golf pants but I love them. I own about 6 pair. I wear them to school everyday as well. I also have a couple pair of Nike and Adidas as well and they are great but more expensive.

The NFL guys are all in Nike coaching/golf pants. Contact your Nike team dealer to get team pricing on these - don't go to your local sporting goods store and pay full price when you can be getting the same thing at 30-40% off. And yes, I am a dealer, so this is how I know The college programs are all wearing whatever brand uniform they're in. As others previously stated, Nike, UA, and Adidas all make their own golf-style pant, and this is what the staffs are in. I'm a Nike guy to the core, and love their Flat Front Tech pant. However, I have to give props to UA for offering a cold weather pant.

I tried the under armour golf pants. Super comfortable, but they were like a shiny khaki which I wasn't crazy about.
I managed to split the ass on them after about two months of wear, which I think speaks more to my ass than their quality. I'm going to try to get their customer service to replace them.

My favorite pair of pants finally gave out. I know this thread is several years old, so what would your recommend for coaching pants today?

I wear the cool 18's in the classroom. Very comfortable. Didn't know how easy it is to remove grass/ mud from the polyester.

I am a big fan of the golf shoe. It looks a little better, gives great traction, and most are made to stand up to wet conditions.
And I love just about any lightweight golf pant.

I wear Carhartt khakis. They're breathable, comfortable and stain / water resistant. I wear them at work and they are great on the sidelines too. Their sizes run long

I have gone with the Adidas pants. Light, airy, and sit well. This year I'm going to go with some Duluth Trading Company khaki shorts. Heavier material, but still breathe, repel water pretty well, and have the flex fit to expand when necessary. I have those in pants too, but I try to stay in shorts as long as I can in Minnesota.

If you or your staff wears shorts on the sidelines at a varsity football game, you have no credibility. You need not reply.

Wrangler shorts. Despite the "modernization" of football I still see it as a blue collar event, not a formal.

What about the best visor? The best laminator for your call sheet? The best pen to have hooked to your visor? The best one armed long sleeve? The best man bun bands? The best towel to have hanging out of your pants on a dry day? The best wrist band to wear? The best tape to put on your fingers so the players can see you signaling?
