2014 season is right around the corner! We had a JPD type program the past 2 weeks(mandatory for all players) and its basically taking the spot of try outs. We will instead start practice August 1 in teams! We have gotten to see our upcoming team for this year in person-HUGE advantage. Our team this year will compose of(ATM-we may shuffle a few kids around) 22 players-4 7th graders, 8 6th raders and 10 5th graders. Of the 22- 1 is a fourth year player, 3 are 3rd year players, 10 are second year players, and 8 are first year players. This team is not very big-weight LIM is 130-140 for OL,110 for skill. We have two stripers on our team clocking in at 134 and 138 the next biggest guy is only about 125 ish. Our skill guys are all about 85-100 pounds-a couple at upper 100s. Smallest guy is 72 pounds. We have one speedster and one kid that can catch decently-we have a VERY good QB-2nd year player who started last year at this level. They are as expected green-but not a ton of athletic ability. We are only allowed to teach them skills and a few plays( haven't yet). Definitely weaker than my team last year-maybe 6-2, more likely 5-3 or 4-4 potential. Keep us posted! Ik it's super early!

How are you guys looking?
Finished up our third day of practice an hour ago. We have 20 players-4 7th graders 8 6th and 8 5th graders. We still have two stripers as originally posted. Didn't wind up getting the tail I wanted-don't have a ton of team speed. We managed to get the QB and receiver and found a diamond in the rough-1st year kid- to be the other receiver. Half the team has played before-(some jostling of roster spots) and we are starting another 1st year player at fullback our QB is a baseball player so no worries there. Offensive line and backfield is meh so far. Definitely the weakest of the three B teams. Probably going to overachieve and be about 6-2 or 5-3, 4-4 at worst. This team isn't very big and is kind of raw.
They are good kids and are doing fine for a couple days into it. We will scrimmage next week to see how we are doing. Went live for the first time tonight-couple of fumbled snaps and some blown assignments but they did get after it. Only have 4 plays in so far we are right on track

Scrimmaged for the first time last night against our other org's B team. Each team ran two drives of 8 plays with 1s- and 5 plays for twos. Took the last 45 mins of practice to do so. We each scored once and got scored on once. Passing was 2-5 with our 1s, and 0-2 with twos- not good. We ran the ball very well though and our kids tackled well. We had myriad issues aligning and a ton of missed blocks-a couple of fumbled snaps too. The other b team wasnt lighting the world on fire either. Very sloppy but a good first scrimmage
We play another scrimmage on Sat which will be almost as a full game. We only have 8 plays in right now (Sally, Power, Wedge, Trap, Toss, Bucksweep, Waggle and smoke pass)

Scrimmaged Thursday night vs one of the best teams in the league. We held our own. Was basically a draw. Defense looked great. We are basically running a 6-3 (safety moved up) and double wing offense. The oline needs work. They just aren't firing out.
Saturday we had our preseason jamboree. Pretty much dominated the three partial games. The one tough team we played once again showed how the oline needs to fire out and maintain their blocks. We saw improvement, but still have some things to iron out.
Good to luck to everyone this season

Good to hear- what age groups are you guys?
Scrimmaged a very good single wing team that got after us a bit on Saturday- really physical team. They scored 4 times to our two. Looked horrible the first few drives-fumbled snap and another fumble. Reeled off scores the next two times our 1s where in-so that's good but we would have been down 14-0 in a real game. Offensive line is still having issues-which is causing issues in our passing game. Called 8 pass plays, 2 sacks and one hurry. 4-5 with the ones throwing the ball (2 nows, waggle and a go pass) 1-2 with twos(now pass) so that may be a bit inflated.
Backs are running hard, need to work on not bouncing outside and ball security- 2 fumbles. We aligned very well actually, subbed well, still tackling very high. Pass D looks pretty good-they only threw 3 times and didn't complete any. Happy with how our defense played-played much better than I thought. O needs some basic remedial instruction. Our K this year is hitting 20 percent PATs in practice(no rush at this level-rule change. We wont kick unless he's at 50 percent- needs improvement.
We have 13 plays in now and 3 formations(beast is one)(Sally,Power, Bucksweep, Wedge, Trap, Toss, Belly, smoke pass, waggle,go pass,QB sweep,QB Sweep Pass and Sally Pass). Will add 3 plays this week( Rocket, Wedge Pop pass and Sally XX) to give us 16 plays going into our first game. We have eight down pat, 3 pretty good, and 2 that need work. We have only one defensive front in and about 5 blitzes/stunts in. This is about 60 percent of total offense and defense in so we are on track. Our first game is this Saturday-have no idea how good/bad this team is

We won our first game yesterday 26-12. We played a very well coached-but very small and unathletic team. We were definitely much better on both sides of the ball than them, but they gave us a better fight than I anticipated. We actually didn't play badly at all for our first game, and neither did they. They ran a Barta Bone offense with a ton of misdirection with very bad line play.
We forced a four and out the first series and got the ball at midfield, scoring in 6 plays from a buck sweep about 15 yards out. We recovered the onside kick, and got a first down and punted. Midway through the second quarter we hit on waggle for a 25 yard TD. Recovered a fumble inside our 10 with about 3 minutes left in the half, scored on Wedge from two yards out. Score was 20-0 at halftime. We got stopped on fourth down after getting two firsts, they scored from about 40 yards out four plays later. An alternate dlineman (our most MMP player) went the wrong way on a stunt, leaving a hole as wide as the red sea. We hit waggle again for a 14 yard TD on the first play of the fourth-than subbed in everyone and let them have another gimme TD to make it respectable 26-12.
Offensively we threw the ball wonderfully, 5-8 with the starters, 1-1 with the reserves, and threw 2 TD passes! The waggle was completed for a TD both times we ran it-had a wide open receiver off sally pass that was poorly thrown. No sacks or QB pressures-probably due to our opponent having zero size or speed. O line is still having some problems with blocking, we had two run plays blown up b/c the lineman wasn't supposed to pull and did anyway. No turnovers and only three penalties-(one for a mouth guard). Our backs played well, aren't burners so they got run down on supposed big plays by the other team which concerns me. Defensively we still have a lot of high tackling and grabbing, two blown plays and a roughing the passer. They only threw the ball five times completing one. We recovered one onside kick and when we deep kicked it we covered well. Decent showing for game 1.

Lost our second game yesterday to a team that was head and shoulders above us- probably the best team in the league based off of yesterday 41-20. They were a pistol/spread team that I am pretty sure poached a few players from the A team or somewhere-they had a lightning fast QB and slotback and a manchild who was their main back who we did fairly well against but still scored twice. Unfathomable team speed on both sides of the ball.
We did ourselves no favors as they scored on their second snap of the game on a jet sweep by their slot-just beat our guys to the corner-and recovered the onside kick, scored 2 first downs later off a read option. Due to this being our second game we haven't put our midseason 4-4 package to remedy this in yet-so we got gashed. We eventually put it in as a act of desperation- did okay with it. We threw a pick inside our own 30 that they wound up turning into a score. We scored with a double dive with about a minute left in the half. 20-6 at half. Scored on buck sweep on our first drive of second half to make it 20-12. They score off two inside zone plays from their manchild-one he just cut to the outside and burned our guys, the other was a 5 yard plunge after another long run off of trap. We score on the third play of the fourth quarter on a well executed sally that went for 35 yards. Hit the XP to make it 35-20 in the fourth, recover a fumbled snap- their only TO, and drive inside the 25 yard line, to get picked off again on a underthrow that went coast to coast for a TD with about halfway through the fourth. We got two first downs and then got stopped on fourth, and they ran out the clock with backups.
Very proud how we handled adversity, I thought this game would be 42-6 after the first quarter, we fought well. We did a very good job in the second half. Would have been a little easier if we had more time to prepare- only have 75% of plays/packages in. Defensively we actually played pretty well, they were just flat better than us. Our WT6 actually did a good job against the manchild-he had a hard time running inside. They only completed 2 of 7 throws against our pass D. Offensively we turned it over three times and got stopped on downs three times. We went 6-14 throwing the ball but had two costly picks-one was a poor decision and one would have gotten picked anyway. We didn't run the ball as well as I would liked-because we had to throw it a lot more than anticipated. We will be a little more well prepared when we see them later but for right now we are 1-1.

Won our first game of the season 32-0 against possibly the worst team in the league. The other team wouldn't play a corner on both sides of the field. I don't even know how to explain what they were trying to do. Could have scored a td every play on a sweep if we wanted to. Our leagues mercy rule kicks in at 28 points so we just ran up the middle with over half of our guys getting a chance to run the ball. Of course the linemen loved it. Our D just swallowed them up giving up 0 first downs in the ball game.

5th/6th graders...
6th graders won 30-0 and 5th graders won 18-0.
Had our first game this past Saturday. Our defense was dominant. 6th graders didn't allow a first down the entire game. We run Dave Cisar's WT6 and our defensive ends played very well. Nothing got outside all day (we played a Wing-T team that wanted to run a lot of bucksweep and naked boot) and they couldn't do anything between the tackles. Our DL and LBs played very well...LBs got downhill fast and made a lot of nice plays behind the LOS. Our DL pretty much dominated their OL.
Offensively, we are in Year 1 of running the UBSW. We have been DW up until this year. Power was our best play on Saturday. We scored 3 long TDs on it. We also did a nice job passing. Threw 2 long TDs to our TE off the sweep pass. Power was so good that we really didn't have to deviate much. Never called sweep once...just ran off-tackle.
Things we need to work on:
1) Tackling too high. While we did do a great job of rallying to the ball and cleaning up the pile, initial tacklers were way too high.
2) Bad snaps. Too many...didn't have any go over the QB's head but we had a bunch of rollers. That needs to get better.
3) We got a little tired in the second half. Thankfully, we were already up pretty big but we will need to work on conditioning a bit this week.

Won yesterday to go to 2-1. Won 27-7 against an equally talented but poorly coached team that had the old " I form with dead ahead blocking schemes"-come on line block somebody was said at least 100 times. We held them to three first downs-all on a TD drive with our backups in. Threw the ball 11 times and completed 2 to their team and 2 to us. We had our first defensive score of the year with a pick six, got three turnovers and got three sacks.
We played very aggressively, tackled very well and blocked very well. Scored one TD off beast 18 sweep, one off of power that went 65 yards and completed a rollout pass for a quick 5 yard score. We ran the ball very well, completed 3-5 with our 1s and 1-2 with our twos. Very good effort-by far our best game of the year. We played the entire 4th Q with backups. We play a team next week that has scored 1 TD so far, and than two 2-1 teams so it should be interesting.

Our 6th graders lost 14-8 and our 5th graders won 22-0.
Bad snaps are still plaguing us. We had a hard time even getting a play off because of it. Kid we have as our snapper is trying hard but just isn't getting it. We are going to have to make a change this week. We struggled defensively, too. LBs were not filling and they were hammering us off-tackle. Couldn't get our defense off the field.
5th graders played well. Long TDs on power, trap and naked book. Only gave up 2 first downs and that was late in the game when we were already up big.

Game 2... Won 6-0! Our defense dominated once again only giving up 1 first down. It was a battle of field position all day. The offense moved the ball, but sputtered each drive. Gotta give credit to the other team as well. Game could easily have been more of a blowout if it weren't for 3 lost fumbles. 2-0 on the early season for this fourth grade team.

Won easily today 40-7. Could have easily scored 60. Had our backups in at halftime-minus the first drive of the third quarter. Held them to two first downs-got four turnovers-three fumbles and a pick. Were perfect on third down, completed 3-4 and 2-3 with our 1s and 2s. Threw a TD with our 2s. Got a punt return for a TD. Tackled very well, aligned very well. Covered very well, they tried to throw the ball 6 times and didn't complete any. Had only 15 players dress for our opposition. Held them to 40 yards of total offense. Our first 2 offensive plays of the game went for TDs. We got three non skilled players the ball-with 16-21 players having touched the ball so far. Will get the three remaining players the ball in another blowout.

Lost 12-6 today. Boys came out flat in first half. WE tied the score at 6 with about 2 minutes to go in the half. Only to give up a td with 2 seconds before halftime. Our own rbs are killing us. Huge lanes and holes, but the kids are insisting on always cutting inside towards all of the defenders. After watching the film, both our o and d lines dominated their lines. One of those games where you just say..."what could have been". Biggest difference was our poor tackling.

6th Grade Jamboree on Saturday...we went 3-1-1 and took 2nd place.
1st game: Played a team that beat us 14-8 the week before. We played much better but lost 12-8. We actually had a chance late in the game but a late fumble ended our chances. Kids played hard...other team was just better.
2nd Game: Won 20-0. We played well. First two TDs came off long drives and last TD came from a great pass and catch to a really talented 5th grader (who scored the lone TD in the first game).
3rd Game: Had a big letdown and tied 0-0 against a team we had beat 30-0 two weeks ago.
4th Game: Won 20-12. Other team had a kid who I suspect was over the weight limit. He had two long TDs on broken plays. We responded well and put three long drives together.
5th Game: Won 8-0. Should have won much more convincingly but kids were tired after a long day (first game was at 9:30am and this game didn't start until about 5:00pm). Not a great way to end the day but a win is a win.
All in all, we had a pretty good day. Our team is solid...not overly talented except for that 5th grader (I think he accounted for 3 or 4 TDs) but they worked hard and we deserved to be one of the teams to take home a trophy.

Won 29-0 against a team that looked like lions but played like sheep. Chock full of talent, a big line, good fullback a QB and receiver that have connected for 4tds in four games with a heck of a gun and a fast but very poor running back. Very unorganized tons of penalties. Moved the ball a little but not much, got a fumble recovery. They ran 40 snaps and threw 17 times completing 5, 3 of them to their stud. Got three sacks. Starting TB had 2 yards on ten carries and a lost fumble. Had they tried anything except running toss and a few quick passes to their stud it would have been closer.
Offensively we played awesome. Threw a td pass off on a choice pass our third play of the game for 50 yards, scores came off of that, a throwback screen, wedge and toss sweep. Were perfect on PATS. Threw the ball 9 times-11 with one sack and scramble, completed 6-9 for about 115 yards and two scores. Ran the ball great, got three holding pens. All in all a very solid complete game. We are 4-1 with a bye after our next game. So far our opponents records are 2-2, 5-0, 1-4, 0-4 and 3-2. Our final three games are against a 4-1 team a 2-2 team and our other B team that lost today 47-12 to that dream team that beat us week 2. Out of 14 teams we have probably the hardest schedule in the league. We only have 2 poor games on our schedule. 5 teams we play are probably gonna make the playoffs. Crunch time starts now.

34-0 win vs a very bad team. Defense once again gave up NO first downs. Could have run wedge all day. Wedge probably averaged 12-15 yards/carry. Mercy rule kicked in by halftime so the entire second half was a running clock. RBs finally ran hard and made the right cuts. O and D lines just completely dominated. Was able to give the ball to kids who would normally never touch it. You know how olinemen love to get involved that way...

Last Thursday, our 6th graders got smoked 44-0. Team we played was very talented and well-coached. We were awful. Linemen couldn't get out of their stances and our tackling was embarrassingly bad. Worst game we have played since I started the 5th/6th grade program 5 years ago. Our 5th graders redeemed the night somewhat, winning 16-0.
This past Saturday, our 6th graders won 22-6. We were very good defensively with only one breakdown that resulted in a 50-yard TD run. Other than that, we played well. 5th graders won again 20-0.
6th graders are currently 5-3-1 with two games to play. 5th graders are 4-0 and haven't given up a score yet. Hoping to get those kids at least 2 more games this year.

Won today 26-18 against a very physical and well coached team. Was 13-12 us at the break. Very well fought and even game-difference was they missed 2 PAT kicks and fumbled a snap on their other conversion. We played pretty darn well today, they were much better athletes than us. Ran a DW offense that moved the ball very effectively, we got killed off Counter XX-had one score and one big gainer off of it. Threw the ball only three times, but completed all three-one for a TD. Scored offensively off FB belly, Rocket H counter, Iso and off power with our QB running from our spread package. Threw the ball 6 times completing 3 off Flood Pass, Sally Pass, and our quick rollout pass. Threw a pick off our pop pass to the LB-bad throw. Fumbled a handoff too so 2 TOs.
Defensively we tackled well but overpursued and didn't tackle on the edges as well as I would have liked. Also had two scores come from drives that started inside our own 40-not good. What we did do well was run the ball-must have averaged 5 YPC, and our O line beat them up front. Our D line also nullified their wedge game. We have a bye week and 2 games left sitting at 5-1 third in standings. The two unbeaten teams play tonight at 7 so we are wondering where we sit in the scheme of things, will know better after tonight.

Last home game this morning. Team we played didn't have enough kids for both a 6th and a 5th grade game so we played a split squad game.
Our 5th graders played offense and our 6th graders played defense. 6th graders played terrific. Only gave up 1 first down the entire first half. 5th graders moved the ball, got a couple first downs, and even scored a TD.
Second half, we started the 6th graders on offense and defense and they scored a couple TDs. With the score 18-0 us, we started subbing 5th graders in on offense and defense. Got another score and ended the day with a 24-0 win.
Good day all around. Only downside was going 0-4 on PAT attempts. One game left next week. Our combined 5th/6th grade record this year is 10-3-1 so far.

Lost tonight in a nailbiter 19-13 in OT. Our opponent picked a heck of a time to play above their talent level and we picked a bad night to have an off night. They came into the game 3-3 and we were 5-1-they were fighting for their playoff lives. Came out very flat and soft. They moved the ball really well but our defense held strong. They had a pretty quick back who gave us problems. Ran I form offense with only three minor variations-kid had like 70 percent of their total yardage and two TDs.
Anyways, we got down 6-0 at half. Scored on first drive of second half and miss XP run tied. We throw a pick inside our own 30 that got returned to the 10. QB sneak a few plays later. We tie it up two possessions later midway through 4 and hit on our conversion pass. OT we go-playing much better-their stud reverses field and scores on a play we broke contain on. Rip off 5 yards on our first run, only to fumble the snap on the next play and end the game. Not happy at all how we started the game, we might as well had let them hit us in the mouth for two quarters.
We tackled and contained atrociously and our line got whipped up front. They threw it 7 times completing 3. We threw it 10 times, but got sacked twice and went 5-10 throwing with a pick. Ironically, we got both TDs passing though for what it's worth. Running game looked ok-they definitely played way above their heads.
Our season finale is next weekend and at 5-2 it looks like we are going to be the 4 seed in the 8 seed tournament. That bully team won 18-0 against the other undefeated team so it looks like were going to get them in the road. Our primary worry is that 4 v 5 game though. But onto the next one.

Recorded a 33-6 win to up our record to 5-2. Scored on the opening kickoff and never looked back. Our qbs hit every pass but 1 today. Pretty good since our two qbs are two of the shortest kids on our team. Defense played great as usual and just dominated the game. One more game before playoffs begin.

Won yesterday in our last game of the year 34-7. Offense ran the ball wonderfully scoring four TDs on the ground-adding one off a fumble recovery for a TD with a backup Dlineman returning a fumble 5 yards for a score. We gave up one TD on a long KO return up three scores that got ran back to the 10 or so and they scored a few plays later.
This was our other organizations B team who finished the season at 4-4. They run a I formation offense and their head coach has only been coaching for two years-really nice guy and an ok coach. Their offensive line was not very good and trying to run a dive into the teeth of our WT6 wasn't happening. They threw the ball 6 times and completed 2 of them. We only threw the ball four times this game and completed two of them as well-our running game could not be stopped and in case we were being scouted I kept it conservative. Everyone eligible has ran the ball this year as well.
This team has a tendency to play up to the talent level of their team, and also a tendency to play down to inferior teams-this is a second half team that comes out sluggish. We are trying to fix that and our KO team needs work. We kicked it deep twice last night and both returns were good and excellent returns. The other B team missed the playoffs. They needed to win tonight to get in and the team we played last week lose. Since they lost the team that beat us last week is in-H2H tiebreaker over another team.
If the 3 seed loses to the 2 seed atm today we will be the three seed because we beat them and have scored more points. The points standings atm look like this
Bully team(L 41-20) 1 seed Team A (DNP)-2 seed Team B(W 26-18) 3/4 seed Us(6-2) 4/3 seed Team C(DNP) 5 seed Team D(W 26-12) 6 seed Team E( W 29-0) 7 seed Team F( L 19-13) 8 seed
We have people filming the 5 and 6 seed games right now. If we play the 6 seed we will play the 2 seed if we win, which I would rather have. That 1 seed is a very very good team that will be very hard to beat.

So we ended up with a 6-2 regular season record and the 4th seed in the playoffs. So it seemed as if everything got stacked up against us going into the first round. Game was moved up a day and we weren't able to practice with such a short notice. Game was held at the other team's homefield even though we were seeded higher. We had 5 turnovers in the first half...more than the rest of the season combined. Each one deep in our own end. Losing 12-0 at half. Got a score in the third quarter, and drove in the fourth inside their 10. On 4th and 2, I swear we got 5 yards, but a terrible spot gave the ball back to the opponent and not enough time left. Defense played great as usually. Terrible way to end it, but we didn't really deserve to win anyways.

Won on Saturday 24-8 - played very sloppy and gave up a ton of first downs defensively (we ran less than 20 plays on offense). We finished the regular season 7-0 and with the #1 seed in our playoffs. We should end up in the championship game against a team we defeated 46-29 a few weeks ago. It was closer than the score would indicate - it was 32-29 with them in possession of the ball on our 20 in the middle of the 3rd quarter - we broke it open in the end, but honestly, it could have gone either way. The rematch should be fun.

Game is tomorrow at four PM. The 3 seed lost to the 2 seed 21-13. Very competitive all around game. Score wasn't as close as score indicated- 2 seed scored 2-4 times inside the 10. 3 seed got a last minute touchdown and failed to get the onside-they never lead.
We are the 3 seed going forward, we won from the 3 seed last year so hopefully we can get there again from there. Will be playing our week 1 opponent tomorrow, they have grown up a lot and are a pretty good football team. They are well coached but very small, finishing the year with a 5-3 record. Losses to us, the two seed, and the 1 seed(38-0). We have practiced Tuesday and Thursday for 1:45 trying to keep it brisk. Had a couple injuries late in the year that missed last weeks game and aren't gonna play tomorrow-our FB has a concussion and missed last weeks game and this one too, and our LG has a sprained ankle and cant run to pull. So we have our work cut out for us.

Won last night 40-26. By far and away one of the best games of the year that we have played and a ton of fun to coach in. The team we were playing had added a spread package with a different kid playing QB who had an absolute cannon. They also ran jet out of that and everything out of their "broken bone" base was a counter or a sweep or a PA pass. They only ran up the middle a couple times all night. They scored on their opening drive and off a reverse pass on fourth down at the end of the half. They scored 1 TD in early fourth and 1 with 20 seconds left in the game that we gave them-nowhere near as close as score indicated.
We had 22 first downs and moved the ball at will on them. Got a PR return for a TD. Went 6-7 throwing the ball with 3 different receivers catching a ball. All but one of our offensive scores came on the ground-we absolutely gashed them on buck sweep and trap. Threw a TD pass off our throwback screen pass that worked perfectly. Had a few bad penalties-facemask and roughing the passer on D.
Defensively we got beat around the edges to start but played very well the second half. Only gave up 9 first downs. our 4-4 anti sweep defense worked well and we got 2 turnovers. They threw the ball 9 times and completed just three of them. We were in the kids face all night. We gave them one TD off special play at the end of the game and ran the ball the entire 4th Q. 40-18 at that point-almost in slaughter rule.
We play the 2 seed away at 7 pm next Saturday night. They beat the 7 seed 33-13 yesterday and are a pretty good team-they are a single wing team so it will, of course be a bear to play.
1 seed vs 5 seed(won 7-6 in a squeaker) 2vs 3.

Lost last night to end the season 15-14. We played our hearts out, and controlled the game for the majority of it. They barely moved the ball at all the first half, the second half was much more even but we still were the better team. We scored on the first play of the game on waggle for 50 yards, got the XP to go up 8-0.
They ran a DC Single Wing, which is an absolute bear to stop. I've run it before so we actually had a pretty good idea how to contain it. We let them wedge us but focused on stopping the off tackle. Did pretty good, just played poorly when it counts. We got 1 fumble recovery, but had an onside kick recovered against us and went 0-3 in the RZ. They made 2 trips and scored once. They threw the ball only four times, completing 2. We threw the ball 10 times completing 6. We threw twice in the RZ one drive before the half-terrible PC on my part.
We got backed up on our 5 during the 4 minute warning and faced a 4th and 5 up 8-6. Fearing a punt return- a good kick would have gone to the 30- but probably would have been returned to the 15 or so-we took a safety and went to OT. They got the ball first and scored and got their conversion run. We score as well, but went for a 2 point kick-(our kicker had been doing about 65-70 percent with no rush) and he missed it. Sad to end the season that way but we gave it all we had. We will play a post season bowl game on the 15th. The SW team will go up against that bully team who won 34-0 yesterday. My money is on that bully team.

We won our championship game last night 28-20. It was a lot harder than it should have been. We've never been behind all season, but found ourselves behind 6-0 and 20-14 in the first half. Then we settled down and played much better defensively the rest of the way. Offensively, we made a ton of mistakes (3 lost fumbles, and a bunch of overthrows that we normally complete - I think my QB was a little too hyped up), and let them stay in the game. Our best lineman couldn't play (tweaked back), which really affected our running game and pass pro, and it was raining on and off all night, which definitely affected our passing game (they were a DW team, so they didn't mind the rain at all). I expected to have the outcome decided by the 2nd or 3rd quarter, but instead it came down to almost the last possession. We scored to go up 28-20 with about 4 minutes to play - if we make the PAT, it's a 10-pt (2 possession) game and it's essentially over. Instead, they blocked it, and I was extremely nervous as they covered up our onsides attempt then got a first down or two before we finally stopped them on 4th down. A couple of knees and then we got our big, shiny trophy. It was stressful, but ultimately a very satisfying night.

We found a bowl game against a team from another league that also lost in the 2nd round of playoffs. We have a team party next Friday and minus our banquet mid December will end our season. Going about 90 minutes to play them in a game controlled scrimmage-everyone will play plenty. We kick off at 1pm tomorrow. Didn't scout em, just gonna enjoy it.
The bully team did beat the team that we narrowly lost to 27-6 to win the championship-we still likely would have lost but it would have been a little more competitive.
