WHAT A GAME!!! I could watch those 2 teams play each other every night. Great highlight type plays all night long by many different players. OMG -- Vince Young is unbelievable!!! What an excellent job he did of not only leading the 'Horns but CARRYING them!! I'm pumped -- Hook 'em Horns

the man is scary to say the least and congrats to all the Horn fans out there, but does one knee still equal 6 points?

definitely a great game.....but some questions linger:
1. why did reggie bush try to toss the ball?? Very foolish....
2. why didnt usc call a time out after the 'knee down touchdown'??
Just wondering also.....did anyone notice on occassion that the DE's of usc didnt do a proper job of containment?? Fed right into young's hands....or should I say, feet!!
Yes...I was going for USC. :-(
congrats UT fans

I grew up in an Irish-Big Red House, so I was a bit torn, but in the end, better the Big 12 we know and hate, then those wankers from L.A.!

VY had a great game, but I think that Brown's staff outcoached Carroll's staff...
The no-huddle had the USC defense off-balance all night and the USC offense looked confused as well. Not exactly national championlike when you get flagged TWICE for delay of game penalties!
How about the USC defense against the zone-read play? Every one in the country knows that play is UT's bread and butter. I just CAN'T believe that USC allowed VY to run the ball as often as he did on that play. I think that USC should have slow-played their DE and OLB to make VY give the ball to the TB every time on that play. You can't win a game by letting the other team's best guy rack up over 400 yards of offense.
Look what UT did to Reggie Bush. They took him out of the game. It was obvious that UT's gameplan was to make Bush a non-factor and force White and Lienart to basically have career days.

Yes, A great game.....I was pulling for USC, I could watch that game all over again. VY took over the game put UT on his sholder and showed his stuff. I was very impressed with VY. Where i'm at we don't get many UT games at all, so that was my first real look at VY. I
I do have the same questions that thekid has....... Why did reggie try to pitch the ball? and why didn't they call a time out after the Knee TD??
congrats UT

Good quote by Mack Brown about how they 'coached' Vince Young....
"We stopped trying to change him, and let him be...."
Phenomenal game, though.....Vince Young really took that game over - wish him nothing but success.
I don't have a problem with Bush pitching it.....he certainly didn't NEED to....but the TE was in pitch relationship, just wasn't paying too much attention.

the funny thing is the pitch young made not long after that, wasn't the smartest thing ever and he was down
but it counted, so it doesn't really matter

There were a couple of things I was thinking during the game:
1. Vince Young is gonna be better than Vick in the NFL. Definately one of the most intense competitors around.
2. It might be time for Keith Jackson to hang it up.
3. We need to start a collection now to raise enough money to send a rocketship to Pluto and put Dan Fouts in it. How this guy gets to call big games is beyond me.

i have convinced myself that the ball was out when his knee was down, therefore no replay and selvin young scores.
i dvr'd it while watching it, so i will watch it over and over and over and over and over....

He very well could but we will see, he is already a better passer, but his speed and the fact that teams already gear up to stop Vick, will help the league adjust to him.

I think the fumble by the Texas receiver that was ruled incomplete was an even bigger play than the knee being down. They reviewed it and STILL got it wrong.I never thought I would see a one man band beat a more balanced team, but it happened!

USC converts on 4th down and everybody would be talking about leinert and white

Random thoughts:
The one thing about the "phantom" TD when VY's knee was down was that if the play was called down at that spot it was already a first down, and it wasn't like USC had a lot of luck stopping Texas's offense anyway. Certainly you can't pencil in not scoring at all or even a field goal (though you never know).
I thought Leinart was shaky in the first half but man he was sharp in the second, particularly the third quarter and beginning of the fourth.
I didn't like a lot of USC's defensive strategies. Did anyone else keep wanting Texas, particularly in the first half, to throw some bubble screens or hitches to the uncovered slot? They kept lining up in trips tight and USC played a lot of 7 in the box with two safeties and no one on the slot. Sometimes a safety would come up but still. I was surprised how worried about getting beat deep Carroll was. They kept at least one and usually two safeties deep and back the whole game, and on the final two drives when they blitzed they were trying lots of corner and safety and zone blitzes (often coming from the right side, which I thought was a good idea) and Young was able to pick them apart (it'd have been nice if a single Texas receiver could run after the catch. It seemed like 90% of all their receptions were either going out of bounds or caught with a knee down).
Anyway, didn't matter. Young is a man out there and he brutalized USC's defense. I mean it was a wild game; USC's offense in the second half looked about as good as any offense I can imagine, and when Jarrett caught the TD pass and those two UT guys were knocked out it looked over. VY put the game on his shoulders. I mean I didn't really like a lot of UT's playcalling: the silly throwback pass to the TE off a roll-out on 3rd down when their base offense was just killing USC; going almost exclusively dropback passing on the final two drives, I thought with 3 timeouts and only 50 yards they could have run the zone read more since it had been so effective, fortunately for UT Young was just so amazing.

P.S. I think the "Safest" pick for who will be a "solid" pro is LenDale White. Leinart, Bush, and Young are all better talents I think but have question marks on translating their games to the pro level. White I think is destined to at least have some good 1,000 yard rushing seasons if he lands in the right spot, I really like him as a running back. Though he looked awful tired there at the end on the fumble on 3rd down and the 4th and 2, and he'd been splitting time and only had carried it around 20 times.

You know what Vince young miht have been down. However they didn't call it. Just like the referees did not call assisiting the runner on USC against Notre Dame on the QB sneak. I guess you can say thats USC's Payback, as they did something "illegal" against ND,and then Young was "down" against them oh well. GO LONG HORNS. OH yeah USC was only two time defending national champs LSU won the BCS title game in 2003.

I will start by saying that I am an OU Sooner fan through and through! It pains me to admit that I was not only cheering, but standing up and yelling at Vince to get into the endzone on that 4th and 5 play! It was time for SC's run at three straight to end and preserve OU's 47 game winning streak....by the way, I did have to take a shower after the game to cleanse myself for the unholy act I had just spent four hours performing!
Why did USC zone blitz on the last play and drop their best lineman (F. Rucker) into coverage and give Vince the edge? The safety they brought, #36, was simply crushed by UT's tackle. I know we are all great DC's after the game is over, but they at least should have tried to make Vince beat them with his arm and not his legs.
On second thought.....it would not have mattered much because Vince was not going to be denied.
One last thing.....was I the only one to hear Keith Jackson telling the SC defense in the first quarter to, "Tackle, tackle, tackle." when Vince was running with the ball?
I grew up with Grand-daddy Jackson calling all the big OU-Texas, OU-Nebraska games and I thought he was the best. It hurts me to say that I wish he would have stayed retired because he is nothing more than a Pac-10 homer with failing eye-sight. Oops, sorry....I could not see what I was typing because I was looking through my binoculars, big fella!
