Coaches - Hoping to get some feedback. Our program is looking at buying a Chute from Rogers Athletic. We like the ZONE CHUTE because we can get backers involved and run more drills through it as it's 5' deep/wide. However, we have heard of issues with the mesh material that covers the equipment. The TRAP CHUTE is similar yet only 3' deep but has a metal "ceiling". Anyone have experience with these chutes that they might share. www.rogersathletic.com/football/chutes/zone_chute.aspwww.rogersathletic.com/football/chutes/trap_chute.aspThanks for the feedback in advance.

We're looking into buying a new chute too. I believe the Rogers Trap Chute is 5ft deep and the Zone Chute is 8ft deep. We prefer the Trap Chute style. We're also looking at the Gillman chute. Anyone have any issues/preferences with either the Rogers or Gilman chutes?

First of all, I am jealous as hades; just got turned down for the 3rd year in a row in my request for one. Second, not sure why there would be issues with the mesh materials IF you remove it at the end of the season and store it out of the weather like you would all your other pads, cones, pylons, mats, etc...

We also had one and liked it but you may have to go even further to preserve the mesh. Everybody has access to our practice field so we broke the chute every day. It's not that hard to do.

Does anybody ever make their equipment? I am an asst. at my school where the coach waists money on all kinds of stupid crap so I made a chute.

No sure I like how it swings back and forth when a player hits one end though. BTW - the Roger chute goes to 40ft. - that's an aircraft carrier!

Coach I am looking to do this. Any chance you have instructions you can share? Might want to look into insurance and liability issues before you put in your time. Buddy's school had homemade chutes and sleds, they were great, and the new administration cut them up.

Like to re-open this thread a few years later. I'm going to purchase a chute. Have the same question:
zone or trap? and 24 ft or 32 ft?
Appreciate any feedback from those who have bought or used these. I'm looking at Rogers but open to others. THanks

Watch out for strong winds! The mesh material on top acts like a "wing" and the chutes go airborne! Not good.

We're looking at buying chutes and I have the same question others have had. We had issues on our old chute with the mesh netting so I do like the idea of getting rid of that. Other than the difference in width (5 vs 8 feet) is there any other differences to be aware of?
