sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft07/news/story?id=2853116This is one of those things that should not happen. I believe maybe not long-term but this year, he goes there keeps his mouth shut puts up huge numbers and gets his ring. I know the 3rd team I will pick on Madden, after my Falcons and the Lions for having Calvin. But this makes the Pats even more dangerous, Bill B. you are a shrewed man!!! I wonder how Brett Favre feels this morning?

As a Pats fan - we'll see...
If he fits in and produces (like Corey Dillon did) that's great. If not, no great loss - a 4th round pick. Belichick and Co obviously have a firm grasp on the concept of value.

ESPN talking heads were saying that the Pats timed Moss between mid-4.2 and mid-4.3 in the 40...he gets his head screwed on, he can have a monster year!

with the Pats offseason acquisitions I'm sore Tom Brady is happier than a pig in slop.
Or....in shock because he actually has a talented ((fast) group of Rec. to throw to. If Moss is only half way under control, the Pats could have a big year.

I like what the Pats are doing. Stallworth and Moss (and some other guy's?) are already big improvements. I think they will let them battle it out. The Pats also seem committed to rotating receivers, and Brady spreads it around, so I think if Moss acts like a head-case they won't really stress. Certainly after the last couple of years, I don't think they will stress.
I also personally like their Brandon Merriweather pick. Talented guy - though another headcase. The Pats clearly are trying to gear up for the Colts - improve at receiver and in the secondary.

The Raiders, in getting a fourth, potentially will get more than the Vikings did for Moss. The Vikings "rented" Napoleon Harris for a couple of years and replaced Moss with a "project in the works" receiver at the #7 pick!
The Vikings brain trust failed to recognize that when a receiver runs past a DB, but still drops the ball, it actually counts for the defense!

As a coach, do you take a Moss or a T.O. (Owens) even if it just costs a 4th rounder? Or does the fact that all it cost was a 4th round pick tell Moss exactly what you think of him? We will see.

Moss----hands down........from a talent and headcase size perspective----TO is a better blocker and more willing to go over the middle, but that's it

i think it shows how scared the pats really are. they know there time is getting smaller espcially if last years pick maroney might be done soon.
what made the pats was good drafts and lots of players.
randy moss would have never lasted in green bay. he mooned the crowd once and humped the goal post one time so he has never been forgiven for his lack of sportsmanship.

I think the Pats are the best team for the 2007 season and I'm not sure it's even close.

i JUST CANT BELIEVE THE RAIDERS COULDNT DO BETTER THAN A FOURTH FOR MOSS...IM SICK OVER THIS... this is what happens when you become a malcontent on a team and you make life so difficult that people want to get rid of you for anything which they can get. this is why the nfl is a players league and college is a coaches league.

Coach Calande, if you had Randy Moss, would you run the DW with him?

I am stoked!
I'm a Bellichick fan (but I root for the Pats and the Seahawks as I'm from the NW.
I have a colleague who refs in the NFL. He says that Moss is very respectful to officials.
I think he'll do great for N.E.

speaking of the Raiders......I ran into Art Shell last weekend........apparently being fired by Al Davis TWICE in your lifetime hasn't been well received by the HOF'er

Why would Maroney be done soon?? I think Moss and the pats is a good match, Bill is a no nonsense kind of guy. I don't think he'll be afraid to sit moss' butt on the pine (aluminum).

I think at this point in his career Moss wants a ring. I kind of view him like Dennis Rodman, only way more talented at his respective sport. The Bulls were willing to put up with some of Rodman's BS b/c he was the best rebounder in the league and a shut down defensive player. Moss has the ability to be the best WR in the league again and with Brady and a good running game plus some other decent WRs around him the Pat's offense should have more than enough firepower.

Coachcalande,
As a Steeler's fan I'm kinda glad to see Moss go to the Pats cause I think Bill B. is going to have his hands full. As to the Raiders, I look at it as addition by subtraction, they got rid of a cancer and can now move forward. As for the Pats, they might very well rue the day they brought Moss on board.
One more thing, I've never heard of a Raider's fan turning into a Steeler's fan or vice-versa, kinda like the cobra & mongoose becoming best friends. Just a thought.

WHO in the AFC East can contend with Brady, Maroney, Moss, Gaffney, Caldwell, Stallworth, Kyle Brady, Ben Watson......and a killer defense?
Maaaaybe the Jets....but that'd be it.
dominate your conference and you are GOING to the playoffs.

This trade is a no-brainer. Arguably one the best receivers in NFL history comes to your team and offers to restructure his contract from a base of 9 mill, to a 1 year deal with a base of 3 mill(up to 5 with incentives), with no signing bonus because you're the team he wants to play for. You'll include a 'zero tolerance' clause in his contract -- 1 incident and you're gone -- and already have veteran leadership that'll ensure the locker room culture won't get negatively impacted. All for only a 4th round draft pick.
It's all about value - huge potential upside with minimal downside. IMHO, it's about 50/50 which way it'll go.

I do think he will be good for them because that orginization---from the players to the coaches, to the front office, to the owner---have proven they have enough balls to deal with him the second he screws up.

Coachcalande,
Then welcome to the Steeler Nation. You can turn in your spiked shoulder pads and pick up a hard hat! I like power football and hard nosed defense as well.

I don't think he'll be afraid to sit moss' butt on the pine (aluminum). when they did surgery on maroney for his injured shoulder there was talk it was damaged great then they could repair and they thought arthritis was going to be setting in.
