Head Football - Assistant Track (Hurdles) In the past have also coached wrestling (which I knew nothing about when I started - head coach was out of the building, and AD wanted a presence) and girls' hockey. Girls' hockey almost drove me nuts. At times I have coached girls in track, but not for the last 7 or 8 years. The interesting thing about coaching girls (IMO) is that the really good girl athletes are usually easier to coach than boys, because (usually) they don't think they know it all.

Coach WRs in football, Sprinters in track... they kind of go hand-in-hand.

Believe it or not - I did badminton last year.... those kids were more of a handful than any football team I have ever coached - completely different problems and issues.... They were the tutors, they needed to go to mock trial, they were in the play, there mom was mad because they only had a 4.0, they had to go to ballet, they had to go to piano... I love football players....

I'm the varsity DC and also the Boys Track coach. We've been able to increase our track numbers by getting more FB kids out.
For others that coach track & fb....how often do your fb kids lift during track?

I used to be an assistant in track. I used to coach the throwers which worked nicely because we lifted then threw. Now our track coach only coaches runners. I asked one of our football players who are in track who their discus guys are. His answer was, "I think it's me". Jesus H Christ.

I guess it's a better answer than "I don't know". Wow, that is an interesting situation.

I picked up another sport last night. I was asked to take a 13-14 year old travel baseball team, so if there are any baseball coaches on here I may be asking you some questions about it. I have only coached it once, and that was almost 4 years ago with a 15-19 year old team.
