Flip Practice Period: 10 minutes, done a few times a season. Linemen go with skill coaches, skill guys go with line coach and for 5 minutes learn a play, how to at least get lined up and in the right stance. Then for 5 minutes they run plays on air and score. Usually coach them on the fly to throw at least once. We always do it just before a water break. Players love it. Changes dynamics of practice, sometimes even for a few days. Learned if from the 3D course.

We are a very small school with many football players who play spring sports and we will use several position only days. We may take only the offensive line or only the QBs & RBs, etc. Also allows head coach and position coach to both work with the group.

It is an outstanding program. It changed our program for the better. Practical ideas for positive coaching and team development. Encourages self examination and reflection for why you coach. Several courses to choose from. The one for credit is very long. The shorter ones cover enough basics to benefit from. Whole staff would be ideal, head coach definitely needs to be on board with using their ideas. .

Does anyone upload on the internet their old seasons. I was going to contact Hudl and see if I could upload them on hudl . I have 20+ years. Create the season, say 2000-2001 and make the schedule. It is just like starting a new season for next year. I have done that for for some of our assistant coaches who played for us. We put their seasons on Hudl.

I am putting together a list of examples of players displaying leadership. I want to share it with our players to encourage those actions and behaviors. What do you expect your team leaders to do?/What are some of the behaviors and actions you want from them? For example, one of our best leaders always took time to teach younger players our schemes. He would meet with them early, draw up plays, etc. to help them learn. I appreciate your input.

No individual awards for any sport in our school except for all conference plaques provided by the conference. Senior athletes receive a plaque listing all sports participation and achievements (state finals, conference champ, etc.) School has been doing it a long time without any problems.

NC tests high school students in ten subject areas. The senator's bill refers to performance on those tests. If 50% or more of the students do not score a "level three" on those tests for two years, athletics would be dropped. There are four levels of performance. A three equals to approximately an eighty. This measuremt is for final exams in those subjects. A student can pass the class and test numerically (70 is passing) but still be rated as not proficient because of the exam.

If athletics were some new fangled program being offered by the latest reform project organization, we would receive all types of government grants and help for our drop out prevention, after school care, academic assistance, and health and wellness programs.

NC requires students to be pass three of four classes each semester and meet promotion standards and attendance requirements. The senate bill is based solely on end of course testing for high school students and is given for eleven courses. Athletes in NC and I am sure most other states perform better than non-athletes on the tests. They also have fewer discipline problems, higher gpas, and better attendance. The education department at ECU completed a major research project on athletics in the state and the findings support of those conclusions.
