My biggest recommendation is to just follow, follow, follow!
Follow one coach, then you'll see another coach you want to follow, then another.
Before you know it, you've got yourself a network.
I think there's another thread on here somewhere which has all the coaches on the site dropping the twitter names!

I'm still coming up on my student teaching soon, but just from coaching and being on campuses and in classrooms, things that make me rage are:
-Lack of respect for teachers
-Lack of effort in the classroom
-Being ok with failure

Our school uses remind for all athletics and school organizations, I recommend it highly! Now you don't have to worry about who saw it or trying to make a bunch of group texts for people and they claim they never got the message.

I read the article, I guess my question is why would a good coach and seemingly good man be let go regardless of his skin color? There also hasn't been any other grounds for firing that have come to the light as of yet so I suppose I'm a bit baffled.

We run a similar look, haha. Been wedging as our base.
...T G C G T T E.... ............3...........4 ........1..2..............
I have a question, and its not to toot my own horn, but I'm having a hard time trying to pick up what other teams are running against us.
How do you go about that?
I can't tell what their philosophy or play still is during the game so it gets hard to adjust at times

I am Coach. We are off this week, game wise due to Easter week. But so far so good. Single winging it. Won our season opener last week 24-0. Great to hear Coach. Just finished our second game of the season (we still played even though its Easter weekend). So far so good on our part as well, running the single wing as well with success. Running the wide tackle 6. We're 2-0 but schedule is looking to get tougher.

Sounds fair to me.
Why would the HC want his stuff if they had philosophical differences anyway?
Definitely a lesson learned for that coach though

Any coaches participating in a spring league? How are you holding up?

I think X's and O's matter more to young guys because they still have a lot to learn schematically. As a young coach myself, there's so much I want to learn that it makes my head spin. But as you grow in experience, I'd guess that scheme matters less because you're more sound in what you like to do and you're more focused on development of the players and program.

Coaches that install different concepts but will sit around and get carved up ALL SEASON in a base concept that isn't working. Why did we waste our time installing the other stuff?!
Players that beg for game reps when they already missed 3 practices that week
Parents that stress the amount of touches their kid gets per game so they can get enough film for their "highlight tape"

I'd stay for a while and soak up as much as I possibly could and continue to assess the situation as time goes on. ttp22 is right, you're in a good spot, don't be in a rush to leave.

I'd look for qualities such as:
-Patience: the youth level (as does any level) requires a lot of patience with players, staff, and parents.
-Teaching skills: you gotta be able to teach your scheme or whatever in that age appropriate language that the kids understand.
-Trust (kinda hard to measure until you start working with them I guess) but the coach must be trusted to set the team up for success.

Coaches that don't give out practice plans and expect the other coaches to just put a plan together during stretches. Hard to be organized and have a sound squad when we can't even practice efficiently.

Barely going on my second year of coaching as a young coach. Assistant coach at the middle school level and OC for a youth program. Trying to become well versed in as many areas of the game as possible.

As a young coach, I did feel like a bad habit I had was trying to be the "know it all" at some points during the season and would get easily frustrated with coaching decisions during games. I need to work on keeping that level head.
