Coaches I would like feedback on what you are using for a sideline replay system. We currently have one that we are unhappy with as it has not worked for us for 3 games now. Long story that we don't want to get into on this thread.

Our philosophy is the summer is all about continuing to develop strength/speed/individual skills. Our week looks like this: Monday - Speed Drills (30 Minutes), Weight Room (1 Hour 15 Minutes), Skills & Drills (1 Hour 15 Minutes) Tuesday - Same as Monday Wednesday - Weight Room (1 Hour), 7 on 7 & Trench Wars Thursday - Speed Drills (30 Minutes), Weight Room (1 Hour 15 Minutes), Skills & Drills (40 Minutes), Team (30 Minutes) We have also cut out Tuesdays following weights as a rewards for working hard.

In the Southern Section it is a violation to do running, agilities, etc. It is clear in the blue book that only weight training is allowed.

There are many programs in the Southern Section that will have a service do the speed and agility training with the players and the coaches run the weight room before or after.

Coach it would be an NCAA violation to allow a player to attend the college camp for free. An amount must be paid to the camp in order to attend. If it is a 4 day camp they will allow players to attend for a day and pro-rate it. There are many camps now that are affordable with the "rising senior" and sattelite camps the colleges now are having.

California........not even sure where to start. Every section has it's own rules. Can't even begin to tell you. In Southern Section you can start practicing and doing 7 on 7 in January. Only restriction is no equipment until fall practices begin. You cannot attend or hold a team camp. In the Central Section you have 15 spring practices otherwise can't do any football related activities outside the football class. You can hold or attend Team Camps. I believe there are 11 sections each with their own rules for what is allowed.

Coach I wouldn't worry, more importantly kids had a little time off. In a week all that stuff will be cleaned up. We start our summer with a 3 week dead period. If you include the last week of school for finals it's a month off the field. I think what you may feel you are losing in the short term will help over the long term.

lol, I think they are going to sell it to another player on the team. What would most kids pay for it? I am disappointed he is not returning as we have been trying to talk him into filming at practice....

Guys what is the going rate for a Revo Speed (1-2 years old)? We reconditioned all our helmets, including players that have their own and turn them in to us. A player decided he isn't going to play anymore and mom wants to sell the helmet.

We run a morning practice the day before the game. It is 60 minutes and the entire thing is scripted. We are trying to go as fast as possible with regards to tempo. There is no standing around or walk and talk once we begin the practice. Our players love it and also like not practicing the day before the game after school. They can go watch the lower level game or get some homework done.

I think the biggest issue is that they should sign a waiver/parent permission allowing a minor to have photograph and video be taken.

Our staff is going to go next year. Just to be around guys who share the passion and listening to the greats talk about the power of influence and the impact of our profession was unbelievable. Just a great way to start the off season.

TJ Simers always has weird angles to his stories. He is a total idiot. It's L.A. so even reporters think they are celebs. I read his story and in his mind he was trying to give Mora an out and come across as genius by "sandbagging". I believe that UCLA didn't hold back. Mora handled it real well.

Coaches we are in need of a game on Sept. 28th (was going to be our bye week). We had a team drop their varsity program this week going into our game and we want to have a 10 game regular season. I know it's a shot in the dark but I figure I would try the board. Contact Jeff Steinberg 760-977-1855 or PM me.

We used to practice 2.5-3 hours. Got a segment timer and our practices go 2-2 hrs 15 min now. Truth is we used to waste so much time on the field.

We have hydration stations around the field and we also have water girls go to each group and get them water. Keep the water free flowing. Let them drink whenever they need to.

Reward hard work during the off season. Make sure to make it fun. Kids these days don't know about commitment as we live in the age of immediate gratification. Our staff figures that we will wind up with somewhere between 20-30 Seniors each year. This year we had 32 Seniors. 17 of them spent 4 years in the program and out of the entire group of Seniors 13 of them were starters this season. All of them were great kids and we had sensational leadership. We had 2 Seniors that played QB, were in the program for 4 years and did not start at Varsity. They understood their roles. I know I'm rambling but we made sure to reward players and acknowledge work ethic, leadership, etc. Kids can grab a hold of that. A great book I recently read was called Generation iY: Our Last Chance to Save Their Future. I would strongly suggest it for any coach, teacher or business owner who works with young people.

I follow a ton of high school, college and pro coaches. Have not got much stuff (other than Pete Carroll's song of the day!) however I have used it to keep my players and school community informed as to what is going on.

I think John Jenkins coached in the CFL for a year or so. Conredge Holloway was the QB in Toronto and they ran the run n shoot.

We were all lined up with Pro Look and they had major problems (jerseys were going to be 8 weeks late). Wound up going with Russell and received the jerseys in 2 weeks from when the order went in. Great looking jersey.

We just did a test of film breakdown. Here is what we entered: ODK, D&D, Formation/Motion, Play, Result, Front, Coverage, Blitz. We did this for both teams and split up the duties as a staff, It took us under 1 hour to have a game done. This was our 1st time doing it this way and I would expect we get more efficient by the time the season hits. We will have an advanced scout who will be responsible for inputting data prior to us getting ready and preparing for our next opponent. Lots of the work will be done by the time we hit the saturday going into our next game. Last year was our 1st year using hudl and we found it to be a great product with awesome (AWESOME) support. I had used DSV and Coachcomm previously.

We just ordered them. This year we are doing home and away jerseys and next year we will do pants. The mock ups look awesome. I was very happy with the sample. We tested it, tugged it, etc etc and it held up pretty good. Prices were comparable to other companies but we liked the fit better. The UA jersey was a stock jersey and we would have to pay extra for cap sleeves and could not get the same style as the pro look jersey at that prie.

It is definately not out of the norm. Some coaches will ask for a verbal presentation and some will ask for notes. i would expect that any session I sent a staff member to he would have the attitude he was going to learn as much as possible and that would mean detailed notes.
