Rightly so, but for some, we may be as close to my father as some will ever have. There is nothing wrong with giving back to a community that helps support your program. There was nothing in his post about helping the community. True, but what I was referencing to was coaches helping to install values in there kids. Helping others throughout their community and putting other peoples needs before yourself helps a lot of kids put things in a different perspective. Kind of like "team over self".

Because some people have a different "Why" for coaching football. I love the X's and O's like anyone else, but there is a great opportunity football coaches have working with over 50 plus teenagers and helping to instill positive values. You are not their father. Rightly so, but for some, we may be as close to a father as some will ever have. There is nothing wrong with giving back to a community that helps support your program.

Thanks for the suggestions, but what I would really like to know is what style and/or brand of bags, shields, sleds you would suggest. Oh, we use the heck out of those dollar store trash cans. Thanks again.

We are in the process of updating our old, worn out, out dated practice equipment. What are some of the things that you would say you use on a daily basis that you would not want to be without on the practice field? Bags, hand shields, dummies, boards, sleds, chutes etc. Looking for things that are useful throughout the year. I already have an idea, but wanted an idea on specific items, not just in general. Thanks

Well I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. I'll guarantee not many, if any, officials in my area know that rule.

[quote author=" jaydub66 " source="/post/940209/thread" timestamp="5. "If we are on kick return and the ball is heading towards the sideline, what should you do?" answer, be prepared to fall on it or pick it up but if it has a chance to go out of bounds, let it go out of bounds . And if it is a deep kick and almost out of bounds - step out of bounds and reach back to recover ball. Penalty on the kicking team...Huh? How is this possible? A player that is not in the field of play can not touch the ball. Wouldn't that be illegal touching?

Local BSN rep is trying to sell me some of these pads. Looks like a quality pad, and I like how the pads are laid out, just don't know anything about them. I always used Riddell Power pads, but these are $40 cheaper per pair and we need to purchase about 20 pair. Anybody have any experience with these pads on the varsity level? Thanks

We give them little packs of peanut butter and crackers or granola bars. Also have orange slices or bananas available for them as well.

Your Riddell rep should bee able to do better on the Flex that 400....at least mine does. Yep, I talked with him today and he can get me 8 + 1 flex helmets for $351.11 each plus painting and shipping.

I am needing to buy about a dozen or so helmets for next year and cant really afford $400 a helmet right now. So does anyone have any preferences as to which helmets they or their players prefer? Right now I'm looking at the Riddell Speed or the Schutt Veneance series. Thanks for your replies.
