So, I'm potentially going to take over a program that hasn't won in 2 years. Have any of you been in a similar situation? And if so, what were your experiences? What was the first thing you did? Culture before scheme. Don't think you are coming in with a magic marker and changing the world. Get kids involved, keep it simple and fun. Demand excellent attitude and effort and eventually you will get in the winning side.

1) An Identity: This means things that a program hangs its hat on and an obvious direction. When you play a good football program multiple times, you pretty much shouldn't even have to turn on the film to know what you are going to see.
2) Traditions: Quality programs either have them ingrained or are finding ways to build new ones. Players need to have these to understand that they are playing for something larger than themselves.
3) Culture: Everyone around the program has bought in. There is an excitement and pride around the program that bleeds through coaches, players, parents, teachers, admin, and the community.
