Ha! This is a great thread. I’ve never won a championship but I am married to our head cheer coach and I was imagining telling her that she wouldn’t deserve anything after all the work she puts in to not only make cheer great but great for our team as well! I guarantee she would tell me there is something I want from her that I wasn’t getting!!!!😂😂😂. Our band director is great too. They practice on the parking lot above our field and it gets a little hot on those August days down here in GA.
I would have no problem with them getting stuff, and at the end of the day nobody will take anything away from what your team did just bc they have patches. On your state association website it will have your team listed not theirs if anyone even looks at that.

Tell them they aren’t good enough yet, then tell them how you, the other coaches and them are going to get there.
On the the other side it’s fine if you tell them they are good, but until that ring is on their finger that’s a bunch of yip-yap! Football is about doing not saying.

Well everyone gets 2 by weeks and if you win your region you get a 1st round bye. While I do believe we will play not sure if COVID will allow us to play the whole season.
It is a little crazy down here. The governor wants everything to keep moving forward. He is suing the mayor of Atlanta for trying to go back to phase 1 and making it mandatory for everyone to where mask.

For those saying "we will play".. define "play". I have seen lots of the SEC state associations proudly proclaiming they will play. Easier to declare you are playing. I think it may be harder to pull it off under current conditions. Our state said we are playing full 10 game schedule with 5 week playoffs. Came out this week that championship games will start the Monday after Christmas. Today they will start allowing us to use the locker rooms again. Now will they let fans, band or cheerleaders come I don’t know. We have been practicing with helmets, and we will start in full pads Aug. 3. We have continued to move forward with football and believe we will play.

15 minutes. Snappers are working long and short. Returners are rotating catching punts and KOs. The skill guys who can’t catch a kick are throwing and catching tennis balls or catching off the jugs. Linemen are working extra drills or walking through plays.

We took our kids paintballing last month. It was awesome! We divided into teams and played tournament style. It was cool to see them huddle up in between games to strategize then work together to execute their plans. They were taking about it for weeks.

If my kids are juicing they better ask for a refund. It's not just s concern for us. That is freakin hilarious!!!! I was thinking the same thing about our kids On the real it you see any signs any kids abnormally roid raging I would go to the counselor, that would be their area.

I would start with local high school and middle school programs first. Some will have old equipment the have never gotten rid of because it can be costly to get hauled away. They may give it to you as long as you come pick it up or for very cheap.

Embrace it! Preach it to your kids. Make sure all your staff is doing the same they can’t be negative about it. We are going to play anybody anywhere. We went through something similar this past season couldn’t play on our field, moved practice locations 3 different times( players and coaches loading sleds and everything on trailers). We went 6-4, only lost 1 game by more than 7 points and made the playoffs. We talked it up being the “Road Warriors” like the old WWF tag team with Hawk and Animal!! Haha!

I think number 1 is the coaching staff needs to bring energy. I know it can be tough especially if your students were turds that day. Hoot and holler, run to all the drills, talk a little trash to the OC during team time. (He loves that especially when we are doing great on D) Players will feed off of that. A good organized practice plan helps not staying too long in one thing. Super long Indy or team periods get boring. We do a lot of 5-10 minute periods and the kids feel like we had a 20 minute practice. Turn some drills into a competition and hae the players not going pick a side and losers do updowns. Not many just a couple.

I've got an experienced group on defense, so far it's been the little things. The most said thing I've done is to remind them to "Defend the catch all the way through the tuck " during 7 on 7s To my defense during 7 on 7 "you know they are not throwing you the ball???!!!!"

I love game days. Our HC likes to eat(6'6/330) so he orders the best pregame meals. After our meetings the JV coaches watched the team and the rest of us hang out in the coaches office telling stories and joke, filling in any new coach on something funny one of us did or a player player did in the past. It is nonstop laughter. We don't talk about our opponent during that time we just hang out drink a redbull and eat gummi bears. Would not trade that time for anything and actually helps our staff get closer and work better together.

I would see what you could get for free first. If you are in the southeast Publix is always great at giving us food. We also sell signs that hang in our gym or on the fence on the field and some places pay with food instead of money. You could have a food place sponsor a game during the season where they can bring their mascot, hand out coupons, get plugged over the speaker during timeouts/quarters/halftime in exchange for meals during your 7 on 7s and scrimmages. Chick-fi-la is great with working with schools and programs. Our local one actually brings the AD and everyone in gym lunch once a month for free. Love those days by the way!

I'm with a lot of coaches we share a lot of film and we talk about things we see but we don't share scouting reports. They have to earn that massive coaching pay(hahahaha!) somehow!

We have focus days like many of the coaches above mentioned. Monday is O focus ST in the middle then D. Tuesday is the same just flip O/D. Wednesday is an even split with Thursday walkthru. The OC and myself will talk each week and decide who goes first on different days so the don't always go O first and are not as focused on D. If you plan practice right and the hard part stick to the script you should be able to get qualtiy time on both sides of the ball.

We use cans as well they are a great, but you could also go half-line to get them more ready for the speed of the game.

Haven't you guys heard that every baseball player is going to play in the MLB!!!! It's just a different time kids commit when it's convenient to their schedules and the parents back them up. If you make a kid choose be ready because they will. Coaches have to be willing to work with those kids or you will lose them.

Georgia separates single A only and we have 6 classifications. In AA 2 private schools played for this past championship and there has been talk of separated them next.
