Maybe we need studies about dangers of band or drama in n high school? Those teachers love to share articles about football and CTE. There is more depression, drug abuse, and suicde in the lives of musicians and actors than most people. Plus many of them are not getting a lot of excercise so increased health risks. Fight fire with Fire?....

Some were rancid. Come on man! Yeah I put them in the washer and then air dried them. Worked out OK. One problem was the ink on some ran and stuck to the plastic of the wristband...worried when I put the new ones in that it might mess up visually and be confusing. Might have to "retire" those ones...

What about getting volunteer coaches out to help out with positional skills?

Can someone post some findings from studies that show football is not that dangerous? I have some great athletes in our school but they (or their Mama) are worried about getting hurt playing football.... Is this the reality? I remember reading Soccer has more head injuries, cheerleading and skateboarding has more broken bones...etc..etc...

1400 yards rushing is not that impressive when they play 18 regular season games...
I like the CFL for some of the pass game concepts but I do get bored of run, pass, punt.... Some of the worse football is in the CFL as they have a shortage of good QBs.
That said if the two teams are playing well it can be very exciting.

We have gone to only Dynamic "stretching" warmup. It's good for agilites, conditioning, flexibility and warming up of course. This Spring we had NO muscle pulls the entire month!!! We also had our best overall team testing for conditioning drills.

I have made the mistake of forgetting pens in my shorts and then they go through the wash. Not too happy about what it did to the dryer and the other clothes. I use the protective sheets for practice plans, depth charts, play lists etc... and I put the pen in that. It has to go length wise so I can still roll it up. I find that's the best way to make sure I have a pen / pencil.

I know what you mean. Outcome goals can be self-defeating if they are not realistic. Performance goals should also be included. That you can control and achieve. This could be a wide range of things (although some may be harder to measure).
So goals based on stats, attitude, attendance, academics, team spirit etc...
Also rivalry game goals are good. Especially if they are more realistic;)

Has anyone coached at it? Gone to it? Had players go to it?
We need feedback about it.
I coached some Sports International camps and sometimes they were horrible money grabs. There was not enough proper equipment for the kids that were there (helmets did not fit, not enough footballs, bag etc...)

I thought this was going to be about losing your voice. I often find in the 1st week of camp my "throat" / voice is not used to coaching voice and I lose it and end up spitting up lots of bloody phlegm. So I was hoping this would be full of tips from others in the same problem and how you deal with it

Football 101 – Maxims
You play like you practice. Perfect practice makes perfect
Catch it at highest point
Don’t let a kick hit the ground
QB – In the hand or in the stands
The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win.
Each day, you either get better or worse, you never stay the same.
The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary.
It’s not the will to win that counts, but the will to prepare to win.
Fail to prepare, prepare to fail,
It’s not a contact sport, it’s a collision sport.
Respect everyone, fear no one.
T.E.A.M. = Together Everyone Achieves More
If it does not kill you, it makes you stronger.
Pain is temporary, pride is forever.
Hustle beats talent when talent doesn’t hustle.
The only thing that drives us more than the desire to win is the hatred of losing.
"Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." Oliver Goldsmith
"It is amazing what can be accomplished when nobody cares who gets the credit." Robert Yates
"You've got to believe deep in yourself that you're destined to do great things." Joe Paterno

We actually have a coverage called "insurance" that is less than a prevent but still aims not to allow a completion over 20 yards. No just kidding, but maybe we should

actually wingtol I have done that as an OC. Exact same situation. I totally agree that the is another drawback. Makes it easier on Special Teams to figure out who you HAVE to block too

Here is my positive version
Top 10 Ways to be a Winner
1. Prepare in the off-season – Not just to get bigger, faster, stronger, but great players know this is also how to avoid getting injured later. 2. Turnovers – Create them on defense. Protect the ball on offense. “It’s all about the ball” 3. Tackling – Make tackles on defense. Make people miss on offense. 4. Assignments – know what you have to do, how to do it, and then do it so you can do it without having to think about it. 5. Penalties – Make smart decisions. Know the rules. Be composed during chaos. 6. Effort – never take a play off. Play like you practice. Practice at game speed. 7. Execution – be consistently great so when the challenge comes you are ready. 8. Blocking – Make your block. Every block is important. On defense, refuse to be blocked or stay blocked. 9. The kicking game. Make special teams special! Make big plays and do not let them make a big play. Know your assignment and execute. 10. Have confidence – Positive self talk. If you truly believe you can, you can!

I remember reading that "Peter" on punt returns originated with a team that had 1 kid who seemed to forget that it was not a fumble and he should stay away from it. That kid's name was Peter. So the team yelled it to remind him and each other to not make it a live ball. So, don't be a Peter...

Seems to be a few more lately I can't tolerate.
Not sure if I am just just getting grumpier and less tolerant as I get older....

To me, we explain holding as when you use your hands outside his frame to prevent him from moving away from you. If your hands are inside and you are grabbing, yes you are "holding" but it's not the actual holding penalty (that you see called). It's when the jersey gets stretched away or the hands are too wide that we teach our O.Line to let go and replace their hands. Yes it's gamesmanship and no it's not unethical. What about in Bball taking intentional fouls at the end of the game? Many others we do. Teaching the center or QB to stay down longer when injured so the backups can get a few snaps in while the trainer is "looking at them." Or how about the practice of getting up slow in pileups or taking "injuries" vs a fast paced no huddle team or 2 minute drill. Or the arm bar or butt cutoff for dbs when covering the deep ball. It's not PI but it could technically be called. Yeah there are lots of gamesmanship calls. When you "talk" to the refs during the game have you ever thought about how you might be influencing his calls? Have you ever done that with this thought on purpose. Of course you have....

I agree with the 2 points raised that it should not have gone as far as it did and that you did the right thing.
I would have stopped the game and called the refs over, security over, the other coach over, whoever has responsiblity /can help against anything that crosses the line like that.
