In NC the Catholic schools are allowed to play in the same leagues as public schools, but the non catholic Private schools have their own association. The Catholic Schools cant offer any scholarships full or partial and if you transfer to one of those schools you have to sit out a year.

5 to 6 Coaches for 35 to 45 kids is what I have seen at most middle schools in my area. Probably 2 or 3 are staff at the middle school the rest are volunteers

The County I live in in NC we have open enrollment which means a kid that are entering the 9th can go to any high school he/she wants as long as they can provide transportation. Its also a period where kids who are already in high school can transfer to another school as long as they have an opening. Everyone knows whats going on you can tell the schools that are benefiting from open enrollment.

We do 40 Yard field so you can run multiple games at once also we cut the width of the field down for 5 on 5.

We have a 7 on 7 spring league the way we do it is for the younger age groups we do 5 on 5 Flag football. For 9 and 10U we do 7 on 7 flag you can only do so many running plays per drive. Middle school ages play regular 7 on 7. We Practice once a week play on Saturday.
