Just got and email that NJ is using Hudl Sideline to review officials calls. Interesting... Good thing Hudl Sideline is so reliable...

Any word on Arkansas, GA Southern, or SMU? Pretty sure Arkansas just has an "open door" policy with HS coaches. No formal clinic.

Is it taking it away if you quit trying to do it? That's what I was trying to say, they took away OZ. Not their entire run game. The vertical, man scheme, straight ahead run game from Anderson was getting good chunks. Felt to me like they could've used that more and then supplemented with Gurley on the OZ, which they did do later in the game. And I agree with what you said in another post, it was 3-0 it wasn't like the Rams were truly forced to throw it.

Did the Pats really take away the run though? Gurley only touched the ball 10 times. Only like twice in the first half. I thought BB was brilliant last night, but McVay for all his "offensive genius" crapped the bed. It seemed like the Pat's took away the Rams outside zone game early in the game and the Rams abandon the run game all together. They had some success with Anderson, and then with Gurley in the second half on the OZ stuff. But it just felt like they abandon it all together due to little success early. Thus, they didn't have their usual success with their PA game.

Saw on Twitter someone mentioned it along with the '06 USC-Texas Rose Bowl... Not even close, imo.
Don't get me wrong it was an exciting game, but not a classic. But I do believe it was exactly what the NFL wants, as it was a sexy game to the casual fan.

Our district is the process of planning one, think they're breaking ground in December. Mostly paid for by private donations and grants, I believe their goal is around $3.5 million. It will be something like 55 yds x 53 yds. 50 yards of regulation width turf with one end having track surface the full width. Where are you located, Coach? Missouri.

I didn't see a bulk price on BSN's website. Amazon sells them for $2 less. Does bsn have a bulk price? Find out who your local BSN rep is. You'll have a lot better luck getting what you need and get better pricing. Our rep is great about getting us items that they don't even have on their site. And always beats listed prices.

Completely agree! There's a few very knowledgeable coaches that I've lost a lot of respect for recently because of this. Debates and questioning can lead to some of the best learning, when done in an appropriate manner.
Too many threads have turned in d!ck measuring contests lately.

Print out the schedule and pick what speakers you want to listen to ahead of time.
Pick out a back up for each session. As mentioned above some speakers don't go into great depth. And some of the college guys don't go into anything that you can apply to the HS. Don't want to waste a session listening to a bad speaker or something you can't use.

Along these lines, I have always argued one of the stupidest rules in sports is that a baseball coach has to be in full uniform. I often have said other sports should have to do it as well. HFC=Shoulder Pads and Helmets HBBC-Old school Larry Bird shorts Head Swim Coach-Swim Suit ladies; Speedo boys But some baseball guys I think just really like to wear the uniform, maybe helps to relive the glory days. Not sure Its because a large handful of baseball managers back in the day were player/managers. I think it just kinda stuck from there. And y'all have convinced me to update my clinic attire, here goes: Revo speed with tinted visor shoulder pads, mesh practice jersey tied up in front and backplate showing size M athletic shorts when I really need an XL #quadz white nike elite socks white cleats Don't forget the one arm sleeve, gotta protect that one elbow from turf burn. Maybe a sweat band around the high calf area.

The thing that was puzzling to me is why did man free stump them for 4 drives in a row? They had seen it with the same type personnel from Ohio state earlier in the year. I felt like they struggled the first drive or two after GA made their changes. Then OU tried to get too cute. Running the reverse on a 1st down, etc.

If you have a TJ Maxx or a Ross in your area it's worth checking there before paying full price for thermal Nike or UA. I bought numerous pieces of thermal gear from both places for cheap!

GOTTA COACH IN SHORTS NO MATTER WHAT OR YOURE A PU$$Y! Kidding. Nike hyperwarm or underarmour cold gear is a great base layer. Gloves are key too. All you'll need is a thin light pair but they'll make a world of a difference. And bring an extra pair of socks if its real cold. As an irrelevant aside- we just lost last week to a dude that didnt wear shoes. It was like 20 degress. Freakin dumb. Watching some scout film from the team we play this week and noticed everyone bundled up on the sidelines. The ball boys and a few others were in full Carhartt's. Then there's a coach walking around in shorts and a cage jacket... I don't get it.

Windows Movie Maker and iMovie are both very easy to use. Just download your clips from HUDL as multiple mp4 files and insert them into the program. Add some music and a beginning and ending slide, boom done.
I'm sure there are much more advanced programs but those are both very use friendly, IMO. Just trim your clips down in HUDL before you download, this shortens the video and is the easiest way to delete 4 or 5 seconds on each clip of the offense getting lined up.

Last week due to a clock error and the officials not restarting the play clock we had to have our JV QB kill a few seconds on the last play of the game(it was 4th down) because we had to snap it with like 5 seconds left on the clock. So we told him to just take a few steps back before kneeling it. Low and behold, their nose shoots through our OL, after they'd just stood there on the last snap when we took a knee. Luckily our Qb was alert and scrambed away before having to slide.

I'll be the first one to rip a$$ if one of our kids starts to point fingers or jump on another kid. Do your own job right then maybe you can call others out. Until then worry about doing your job, but you still want kids to hold each other accountable.
That's our problem this year, we have too many nice guys. Somebody messes up and we have 20 kids go tap on the shoulder and say "it's ok."
WTF, NO!!!! It's not okay... what he just did is exactly why we lost last week. There's fine line between accountability and finger pointing, but sometimes I wish our guys would toe that line a little bit.

Agree with most people here. Suck it up buttercup. 1. Liquidate the car. 2. Consolidation??? 3. Lay down your pride, if it's as bad you're saying then move back home and get your ch!t together.

At my last school we provided laminated cards that gave some tips on what a "healthy" teenager should be eating. It was broken up by meal and just suggested a few things they should be trying to include. Looked something like this -
Breakfast- Mid Morning Snack- Lunch- Afternoon Snack- Dinner- Evening Snack- (this was something including Peanut Butter for the kids that we wanted gaining weight.
Just like mentioned above lots of meat and veggies, nuts, fruits, and milk... things like that.

Have you looked into any forgiveness programs? Certain districts qualify if you teach specific subjects. I know our district qualifies for $5,000 forgiveness regardless of what you teach. But I teach SPED so I qualify for up to $17,000 forgiven. So I have to teach SPED for at least two more years and I get my masters completely forgiven. You'd be surprised what districts qualify, I know nearly everyone in our area does. This might be something you guys have already looked into, just trying to help.

We've reached out to Texas, they're having one April 7-8. They haven't released any other info on it yet though.

I'm bored and thought this would be interesting. What trends in our game make you rage and why? Mine is coaches that win titles all talking about winning with lesser talent. We all have lesser talent. I have never once heard a coach say "man, we are loaded this year." If they do, you probably better look the phuc out. A coach here in MO that set the record for most state titles consecutively won (6) admitted at a clinic yesterday the reason he has won so many titles is that he has been lucky/blessed to have great players the last 6 years. Some guys in there were pissed because they thought he was holding back some secret he wouldn't tell everybody. He wasn't lying, he's been blessed to have a few D1/D2 kids that were just flat out better than his competition. They literally only run a 4-3 over cover 0 on defense, and DTDW and Power I on offense. One of the few times I've heard a coach admit they won because of players/talent and not scheme. That coach is on here somewhere. Doesn't post very often but I know he's a member.

This is great stuff guys. I was thinking along the same lines. We have a huge staff and it seems we are all going everywhere with family and other tasks. We are going out of town for a clinic and usually the few times we can get everyone together without excuses and relax a bit. Is it best to take it as a night out and just mingle or plan something? I sometimes feel it is awkward because we have a few coaches who don't drink and others who want to go out. Is it foolish to think everyone can be satisfied? We have a guy on staff that doesn't drink and he always goes out with us. He says enjoys the people watching and usually seems to have a great time. Plus we know we always have a driver.

Our big one is golf. We try to play together as a staff as much as possible in the spring and summer. There's a great range in ability. But it's still a great time and we usually try to change the cart pairings up each time just for something different. We are pretty blessed to have great staff comradery as is, but this definitely helps.
Last spring we had a bad wind storm which resulted in us a staff helping one coach clean up a tree that blew over in his yard. We were done cleaning the tree up in 30 minutes and then sat around for a few hours and enjoyed beverages. Another coach had his garage door blown in, I know not everyone is capable of this, but as a staff we were able to replace it for him and save him a ton of $$. Plus we got to spend time together and have a few more beverages.

I'll give you a good one. Was at a clinic where 2 rival schools both attended. The team who won the most recent game apparantley beat the other pretty good and there was a running clock. The coaches of the winning school showed up to the clinic with t-shirts that had the final score and a drawing of a clock that had little arms and legs and was "running." That led to a fight in the parking lot and cops came!!! Now that's a clinic "incident" worth reading about!

I think a more important question is: Why the hell was Sark going No-Huddle when they were holding onto a lead? Yes, Scarborough got hurt, but Harris has been the more consistent back throughout the year. Milk the clock when you have a Defense like that. You can't put them out there for 99 plays with Deshaun Watson, and expect them to hold I thought the same thing! Bama's clock management down the stretch wasn't very good at all. Even throwing long, low percentage passes causing the clock to stop late in the 4th. Run the ball and throw higher completion percentage passes, if you are going to throw in that situation. I get that going up-tempo helped to neutralize Clemson's front 7 but they were snapping the ball 8-10 seconds into the playclock when they could've been burning precious seconds off the clock.
