Geoff Collins at Georgia Tech has been doing something similar for years dating back to his Western Carolina days. He doesn't play everyone but simply has a line. If you are above the line you WILL play. I believe his line/depth chart was posted in this manner on Twitter at some point a year or two ago. This makes it so that many players play. I know at one time at Miss St. he had 3 groups on the defensive line getting significant reps. It is strategic in the fact that his best will defiantly play the most snaps and play more in the critical moments.

Homecoming at the school I have been at for the last 7 years is nuts. We do all the normal stuff like theme days and such. There is only two or three real hotels in this town and they get booked. The crazy stuff is the parties that start Thursday nights for the reunion classes. On homecoming, morning our school is bombarded by a few THOUSAND extra people. They start arriving around 745 AM. Our assesmbly starts at 9AM. It typically last until 1130-1200. We get a short break for lunch and then the pep rally around 2. After the Assesmbly/pep rally former graduates rent out local bars, clubs, and venues and have day parties from 12ish until game time. These day parties are complete with DJ's, and open bars in the middle of the day sometimes. One of the venues is directly across from our middle school. One year there were drunks in the venue parking lot taking a whiz in the middle of the day. My point is homecoming here is a total distraction. You would have to see it to believe it! This year we have a 1st year principal that is also a former Marine. I can't wait to see his face Friday morning when this craziness starts.

We found a tendency from a coach a few seasons a go in a really big playoff game. The QB coach would always be yelling or signaling to the QB on Pass plays. He was a young guy and did a lot of extra on the sideline. On run plays he would just stand there with his hands on his hips. We shut them out by the way.

If your school or district has a plastic card printer, you can print the discount cards yourself and save even more money. My school has a plastic card printer for student and teacher ID's We could print them ourselves if we choose to do so.

We had a problem with Seniors attending. We made a rule a few years ago that, Senior's must come to banquet in order to get their jersey.

Anyone have the setup that Coach Comm offers called the Evenue Tempo? It has a period clock as well as a sound system attached to a rolling cart? We are looking for something like this but we are having trouble finding other companies that offer this product.

Our football team is part of the Under Armour Undeniable program. Its pretty sweet. We get an allotment of gear for X amount of dollars. We use it for coaches gear, gloves, socks, cleats, etc. After that we get 40% off everything else. We let our kids order stuff at our cost. Our coaches and players are only allowed to wear Under Armour on game nights. Each time we win a state championship I believe we get a bonus on the allotment for the next season. I do not know all the details of the contract, but I do know we have to purchase new uniforms every other season. Our rival school is part of the Nike Elite program. A friend of mine has told me a little about it. They have a similar set up that we do. Both of these, (Undeniable and Elite programs) are somewhat of an invite type thing I believe.

I thought I may have read a topic on here before but couldn't find it. Anyone ever had a direct withdrawal account to generate money or booster club membership? Example would be similar to Planet Fitness where you sign up for direct payment on a monthly basis. My idea would be to get 100 people to commit to $10 a month. That would generate to $12,000 a year and help increase our booster club membership. Our booster club numbers are down and we are looking for ways to increase membership and funds.

We have a kid here that is a 5'11 212 lb Soph. He has maxes of: Bench 415, Squat 485, and a Power Clean of 285 and he is a really good athlete. He plays Defensive line for me. As a sophomore he is the second strongest kid on our team. He absolutely crushes the weight room every single day. The problem is, this past summer the kid showed up to 5 workouts all summer long. I was pissed. I was convinced that I was gonna leave him down on the JV team. He came into camp in great shape and did did a lot of extra work during the school year though. Well, we had some things happen with injuries and such so he ended up starting 6 games for me and had a terrific year. The kid loves body building and constantly post videos of himself on social media lifting and flexing. I really think he may pursue the bodybuilding avenue after his playing days are over. There is no doubt the kid lifted all summer long. Obviously I would prefer he come to our summer sessions but he is gonna play for me if he is the best I got. At this point I would love to have 11 of him on our team. Coach, You have a soph that weighs 212 pounds and he benches 415!!!!!! Did you type that correctly? Was that a true max or something projected. I have coached some super strong kids. The most I have ever had is two seniors that benched 405. They were both huge, seniors, and one was 2nd team All-SEC as a center and the other one won the entire state of Alabama strength competition breaking records. Next, you had a kid that benches 415 and is the second strongest kid on your team and he only started 6 games because other kids got hurt? You thought about leaving him on the JV??? Y'all must be freaking loaded. I mean no offense here and I hope I am wrong, but I would literally bet my house that kid is on roids. Coach, Yes I typed that correctly. It is a running joke at school that he is on something. I have no idea if he is or isn't. We can't test kids. He has the strongest bench press, not the strongest squat or clean. His last testing date with us he got 405. He has a video up doing 415 a few weeks ago. His dad is super strong as well. He has good DNA. Its impressive to see. He has to continue to get better as a football player though. Bench press doesn't win us games. We are not loaded by any means. The kid that is stronger than him is a senior that won the state championship in the weight lifting competition this past season and 2nd the prior year.

I am at a school in SC with 2100 students. We play in the largest enrollment BiG 16/5a. We have 17 total coaches on staff from 9-12th. We have 8 Varsity assistants plus HC. We also have 4 JV stipends and 5 9th grade stipends. Our varsity coaches also assist with the JV staff. Our district pays for 15 supplements and our coach takes fundraiser money to help pay for the 2 additional coaches stipends.

With the job I have in our school I am able to watch film for a long period of time each day. I am usually watching something just about every class period. I watch for a lot of different stuff but I kind of have a routine that allows for me to focus on something specific for part of that day. Typical film study for me goes as follows Saturday and sunday put info into Hudl. Sunday meeting we watch as a defensive unit. We usually watch the most recent game as a staff and share general opinions about the opponent. During that we look for formations, 3 best runs, and 3 best passes. We as a def. unit also look for their playmakers best lineman etc. We make our Hudl reports for tendencies and that's about it. Monday I spend watching all doubles plays and then all trips plays. I look for any kind of key based on alignments of WR, RB's and lineman. I then watch all special teams play and find out where we want to block kicks, return kicks, and what fake we want in for the week. Tuesday I kind of repeat this process and get a plan for their crazy formations or goal line/short yardage set. Wed I take some time to watch the other teams defense to see if I notice any details I could maybe give the offense. I also spend a lot more time on special teams film on Wed as we finalize our special teams plan during wed practice. By Thursday I have watched so much film that I have a really good idea what they are doing and what I want to call to certain formations, downs, and distances. I also take some time to watch last years game vs the opponent. During planning I run final reports and make my play call sheet that we will use during Thursday's walk thru. Friday I watch the JV game to see if there is anything I take away from it. I also get 1 hr of film with the kids on tues, wed, thurs, and Fri.

Update: Yesterday, we seen the kid was getting dressed for practice. We got onto the field and started he he never showed up. One of our kids told us that that the QB's parents showed up and told him to get in the car he wasn't playing unless he was starting. HC gets a hold of the parents and brings them in for a sit down during practice.
It is our understanding that this issue is more with the parents than with the kid. Parents kind of tried to make it a black white issue, which makes no sense with our schools history and demographic. Our last two state championship teams fielded a black QB. These parents are going to affect this kid in a negative way if they don't wake up soon.

I wanna cut the kid loose also, at least for this season and make him earn it all off season. Our HC decided to not even respond and give the player of the parent any attention with the matter. He said we will go practice and play the game with whoever gets on the bus Friday.

Coachfloyd I agree. The biggest issue is that we find this out 2 days before a playoff game. We could've been preparing someone else for this role. Does the parent not understand they are not screwing me as a coach as bad as they are hurting all the kids teammates by doing this. The parent is raising their kid with a sense of entitlement that is not deserved.

I did the Points Per game breakdown for our last two seasons following our last regular season game. In 2014 our average was 2.33. In 2015 our average was 2.03. I feel like our average would be better this season if it wasn't for special teams play. We have given the opponent the ball on our 40 after punts and kickoffs 13 times this year. We gave up 6 TD's and one FG after in those 13 times. Overall points this season, we have given up 68 less points compared to last season.

Here in my state, if you play on Thursday nights (JV) you can not even dress on Friday nights. This is the first year we have had to deal with this rule. During our last regular season our starting QB went down in the 1st quarter. We had to finish the game with two kids that have never taken a snap at QB. We are getting some deserved heat for not having a backup ready. I am the DC so I had no say in doing this.
Now the playoffs are here and we have our varsity starter practicing, but we are not sure if he is 100%. We have pulled our JV QB up who is a pretty good player. He has a chance to be special the next two years for us. His parents and he have sent two text messages telling the OC he is not playing or traveling this week unless he is the starter. Obviously, we want to say screw you then! But in reality we need a 2nd QB headed into this game. This kid is capable of getting the job done if we had to go with him. We just received this news yesterday after he has been splitting reps for the last two weeks in practice. This kid and his parents are really screwing us. I don't understand why a kid or parent think they can us an ultimatum. This really burns me up. I never seen this coming from this kid. From my understanding he has the kind of parents that no one wants to deal with. HC, OC, QB coach and myself all have different opinions on what we should do.

JG78, I use to coach in NC so am familiar with Mickey Lineburger. I dont know what type of speaker he is, but he is well known for the triple option particularly the outside veer. Always a top contender for a state title. Same thing with Caleb King from Havelock. Haven't heard him speak but I have heard his HC Jim Bob Bryant speak. The have a nice program and the HC from Havelock is a great speaker and very open about what they do at Havelock. Hopefully, King will be the same.

I agree with a couple of the other guys on here in that, your basic scheme is part of your fundamentals. I believe that fundamentals are most important. I also believe that your basic front or offense philosophy is part of those fundamentals. Defensively I consider our base defense adjustment to trips and empty all a fundamental part of what we do. On offense our two best runs and our two best passes against a 3-4 and 4-3 is part of fundamental day one work also. I feel like if you accompany that with good alignment, blocking, tackling, and footwork that makes you fundamentally sound.
