I was there. I thought it was great. Rsmith not sure what position you coach, or which sessions you went to, what you were wanting to get from the clinic. Which are all things that would change opinions of the clinic. I came away with something from each speaker. There was a sports psychologist, strength coach went through some stuff you can do to listen kids hips, Ravens coaching staff was great, chalk talk with michigans staff was great, how often do you get to hear frank Beamer talk special teams. He gave out his KO and punt block schemes. I will agree trestman wasn't great. I am not a QB guy though. I was able to take away from him the team that finishes +1 in the takeaway battle wins the game 80% of the time. The person I got the least football knowledge from was art briles. I'm working with QBs this year. Thursday: Briles and then the 3 back running game guy from Texas who I thought did a decent job. Friday: RPOs, Beamer, Power run game, Harbaughs, Mornhinweg, Trestman, Joe Cullen, Ravens DC On Friday i thought the RPO session was good, the power run game was good, the Harbaughs were good, Mornhinweg was alright, Trestman was awful, Cullen was good, and the Ravens DC was good. The chalk talks at the end with M coaches were also great. I'm not a special teams guy, so Beamer just didn't do it for me. Can you post some notes on the Power run game?

Speaking of the search function, why make something so simple, so complicated? Take about 1 1/2 days to fill the boxes out! I have given up complaing about the search functionality. Agree! It's a pain in the butt!

Hmmm! Make me wonder why coach Jim Harbaugh is taking his U -M team down to IMG Academy for 4 practices during their spring break. I'm sure it wouldn't be for recruiting purposes.

I'm about 40 and I'm not nearly as spry as I was at 30. Go figure. It's called getting old. Oh, trust me, you don't know what old is at 40!

I suggest getting the book "the assembly line" from the OL coach during nebraska's I option days. Install that. Its not true triple, its better. THE ASSEMBLY LINE by Milt Tenopir

As an assistant coach, I am often selected to do "team breakdowns" every Thursday in our pre-game routine. What is the significance of a "team breakdown?" Some kids do them half heartedly . Maybe if I could explain some values, they would put forth more effort. Thank you!

I'm disappointed that Paul Alexander can't make the clinic! He was scheduled but his HC called for meeting this weekend. He will be at the Glazier in GR though.

The issue with AFM is....it's getting thinner & thinner. Plus, they are about 3 months behind with their on-line issues. I don't think I'm going to renew, unless they will reduce their price.

I've been asked to write a letter of recommendation for a football player. Do you have any experience writing one? Where can I find some samples? Thank you.

Any one have some fun competitive activities/games for the last week of the season? Today we had our two QBs throw 10 passes each using a point system. It went very well. Looking for some new ideas for the remainder of the week that uses football related techniques. Thanks for your input.

I really need a list of a normal job description for a high school head varsity football coach. Please PM me if you have one available. Thank you.

I would like a few new ideas on timed conditioning drills. One of my favorites is from one sideline and back to the other on the stopwatch.
Do you have any others that have been good for you to vary our conditioning going into this season? I don't prefer to go with long ones like the mile run. Thank you in advance.

How do the rules of Canadian HS Football compare with American style. We are playing a team from Canada this year and would like to know the difference. It could be interesting scouting them if they play 12 man football. Thanks for your input.

If the above is true, then Tedy Bruschi misspoke himself on NFL Live today. He said, "They never played football."

I was surprised to learn today on NFL Live that Hall of Fame coaches Vince Lombardi, Paul Brown, Bill Walsh & Bill Belinchek (sp?) never played the game of football. There was one other I can't remember.

I wouldn't work for the guy! He really shouldn't be a HC if he schedules 7-on-7 and doesn't attend.

If you had a winning record and like the job.....stay with it! The other option would be to get rid of the cancer on your staff. I taught for 33 years and always had to hand in lesson plans. Not practice plans though. Although, I always had practice plan in hand. What is your AD's MO on the practice plans; To organize you or build a case vs. you? Find a new job isn't always easy to do.

How would you experienced coaches answer the following question. What has coaching meant to you? Coaching has meant a lot to me, but I have difficulty putting my thoughts into words. Thanks for your input.

My broken tibia and fibula as a sophomore. And, when the doctor set the two bones they gave me a piece of shoe leather to bite on. It hurt like ....! I didn't get out of the long leg cast until well into the spring.

It is difficult to do at times, but we should treat all kids better than they deserve! That is our adult responsibility.

If I were you, I wouldn't leave because of the principal until you have another coaching job lined up. Don't give him the satisfaction. Remember, most administrators are on a hug ego trip and are just looking for the next step up the ladder. If you love coaching, stay with it as there are usually obstacles with any coaching job.
