You live in a town and play for the town that's supposed to be high school football. This is what makes it special and different than college and pros. Congrats on the longevity and career.!

In NJ we have more assistant openings and some schools multiple jobs. There are more coordinator positions open than previous years. Its hard to find football coaches and refs.

It takes two to tango, and in the case of football programs, it takes many more than two. I'm sure that there is more than one guilty party here. When the long hand of money is offered, very few will turn it down. It is easy to look at things from 20,000 feet above and say one thing or another in judgement of other's actions. It is also very easy for the big turd of guilt to roll downhill once wrong doing has been discovered. I'm sure many administrators were more than willing to look away as long as winning was happening and the school looked good in the papers. I'm sure the boosters were more than willing to give out money, as long as nobody asked questions. And I'm sure the coach was more than willing to take as much as could be given, as long as it would help win more games. But when people start digging, somebody has to go to jail, and the most famous name is usually the one that goes down. 95% of coaches on this board will never be able to relate to this situation because schools with these resources are far and few between. But just like in politics, once you take that first handful of cash under the table, the next time is much easier, and much bigger. Not saying I approve of the wrong doing here. But we are not the judge, jury, or executioner. Best thing to do is learn from others mistakes and not repeat them. But even the most honest coaches have used some cash from a fundraiser for a "Slush Fund". Maybe not $15,000, but I know almost every coach I have worked for has had some cash on hand for things. Cash on hand for things? Really? Never in my world. Is that common?

We lost two division championships in consecutive years when 2 larger teams came down to our division because they were not winning.

NJ has some of this within conferences. If your school doesn't do well go down to play smaller schools and have a better season. The issue is there is no place for the smaller schools to go. We really messed up in NJ when we gave incredible amount of power points for losing to a super parochial power. This allowed 2 win teams who lost to a parochial and make the playoffs.

2017 Central Jersey Group 1 State Champs and proud. 3 games to win the championship, the first in 32 years. This year champions play 1 more extra game which will leave 2 group champs. Its all leading to 1 champ in the 5 groups and 4 parochial groups eventually. We had a power point system, which some people did not like. So we use the power point formula and something called the Born Index, which no one knows the exact formula. It did have something where you have to beat point spread or you drop.Biggest issue in NJ is multiple long time thanksgiving games which people dont want to give up

Long time assistant gets to practice late most days (because of school times) and when he is on the field coaching eats a pear every day during practice. Would this be ok in your program?

We are no huddle option like Navy. We do short motion return and the team looks to the sideline. Opponents, fans, officials have never seen it before and are amazed by it.

Won first state championship as oc, running no huddle triple ,first year with the team went from 1-9 to 11-1. Thanks for all the help with triple option from a lot of people on the board through the years and some of you from the old option message board. I sometimes believe I am a smart football coach then I come here.

You strap enough pillows to the outside of your car it'll make a difference. Rough terms here let's look at some concussion math. Say you're wearing your helmet and you run right at a brick wall headfirst. Vo=7m/s - that's 15.5mph so he's moving but not exactly a burner. V1=0m/s Let's say your passing will allow your head to stop over a distance of a half-inch. Basically it's the compressibility of the padding in your helmet. d=1/2"=1.25cm=0.0125m We'll assume constant acceleration which is wrong but reasonable. I don't want to do calculus here So you're looking at a 200g impact. 100g is the rough threshold for concussions. Also I got totally lucky that it came out in round numbers. So if I add a guardian cap I increase d. If the guardian cap can get me up to 1" of deceleration time I get down to 100g impact. You won't quite get that much out of it but you also rarely run into brick walls at 7m/s. Point is, impact force is inversely linearly proportional to stopping distance. How much they help do that will have to wait until the UA study comes out. This post gave me a concussion. This is like doing your math homework during gym class.

I am thinking of having players keep notebook. We would hold them. I first saw this in tubby raymonds wingt playbook. Just oline and players draw everything else.
