In other words, when are the state championship games played? Here in Va it's the second Saturday in December, but from my understanding a committee is reviewing the possibility of moving it to an earlier date.

Michigan is Friday/Saturday after Thanksgiving too...always nice to see a team you are actually cheering for win at Ford Field as most years those can be quite rare if you are a Lions fan! Count back 13 weeks from there putting the 1st 2 games at the end August.

CIF games in California are now the week after thanksgiving. Which allows them to play into the second week of December for the state bowl playoff games.

Because the Lions always play Thanksgiving Day that is the only weekend Ford Field is guaranteed to be available every year so that the championship games can be played indoors-weather is not a factor.

IN NC we are in the semifinal rounds this week. State finals next Saturday at UNC, NC State, Wake Forest, and Duke. We are fortunate enough to be playing in one of those semifinal games this week!

Iowa is the Friday and Saturday before Thanksgiving. Title games are played at the UNI-Dome, so it's this weekend to avoid the possibility of Northern Iowa having a home playoff game, so I've been told.

PA are this week Dec 5-6-7. They have started our season a few weeks earlier the last few years. When I was lucky enough to make the finals at a previous school the state games were the week before Christmas. Now we played 2 games before kids were even back in school in August making the games earlier.

In Kansas our State Championship games are on the Saturday after thanksgiving. 8 classes play at 7 different sites. The only classifications to play at the same site are 8man d1 and 8 man d2. Currently none of the State Championships are held at KU or K-State ( and haven't for at least 15 years) This year 3 are at NCAA D2 schools, 2 are at school district owned stadiums, 1 is at a JC stadium, and 2 at a NAIA school.
We practice 3 weeks, then play 8 regular season games. Depending on classification, week 9 is either a playoff game or a meaningless consolation game between the 5th and 6 th place teams in the district. (Every team is guaranteed 9 games). State championship is game 13.

They play HS ball on Sundays? I ask because in Louisiana they have held the games in the Dom Since around 1981 or so, and have never had an issue with a Saints game because the HS play Friday night and Saturday.

No, our state finals are Friday and Saturday (games at 10 am, 1, 4, and 7 pm both days).
But if Lions were home they would be using stadium including lockerrooms for practice and walk-thrus. And field would be set up for them, not HS games.

Tennessee: Starts today. Private Schools are today Public School 1A, 3A, 5A Friday Public School 2A, 4A, 6A Saturday.
This rotates every year. So next year the Thursday games from this year move to Saturday, Friday to Thursday, and Saturday to Friday.

Here in Va it's the second Saturday in December, but from my understanding a committee is reviewing the possibility of moving it to an earlier date. To do that they'd either have to: 1. Start the season earlier. 2. Eliminate a round of playoff games 3. Cut the regular season to nine games or 4. Eliminate the bye week. Give the fact that there will only be 12 teams playing next week, is the length of the season really a problem?

And field would be set up for them, not HS games. Well, as I mentioned, the New Orleans Superdome has hosted 4 state championship games on Friday/Saturday since about 1981 (5 starting in 1993). Same weekend every year. Texas stadium hosted, and ATT Stadium currently hosts the Texas state title games. Pretty sure it is the same weekend every year. It has been a while due to the NFL schedule, but back in 2010 the HS games were Friday/Saturday and the Saints played in the Dome on Sunday. Just saying, I know there are other NFL stadiums that host prep championships

In addition Semi Finals have been played at an NFL stadium over a a 2 or 3 day period since 1990(except 2014-15 when they were played at Neutral sites with the Finals those two years at the University of Minnesota)

That kind of sucks...the best part of some of the states is that everyone from the smallest to the biggest school is in the spotlight for their State Championship game when they are all at the same location.

It does suck. Crazy thing is our State Track and Field championship is held at the same location over 2 days for all 6 classifications. 3600 athletes competing. I have seen it suggested that our State Association work in conjunction with a few other organizations to install turf at Cessna Stadium, the former home of the former Wichita State football team, and host all or most games over 2 days there.
