Hope everyone is still battling in the playoffs. We are about to saddle up and head 2.5 hours away from home. We are taking coach busses. What have you found is helpful when you get off the bus at your destination? My first thought is I would like the team to possible do a dynamic 20 minute stretch to fully loosen up after the long ride. Has anyone done this or something similar? How would you approach this scenario?
Thanks for your help.

That's a typical away game distance for us. We do a few things to keep the kids loose and fresh:
1. Stop half way, eat something, use the bathrooms, and just get off of the bus.
2. We get there a solid two hours before kick off and give the kids a half-hour to throw the ball around and just loosen up a bit without structure. Some kids choose to hang around in the locker room and listen to music which is fine as well.
3. After that half hour is up, it's all business; get dressed, taped and go through our pregame routine.

Sounds about like us. We did have a district rival arrive about 4 hours early. I wouldn’t recommend that. Get there a little early. Let kids get their bearings back. Stopping and eating is a must.

My college coach said, "You have to get to the game early so you can worry."
He was kidding. I think.

Hit the nail on the head. Get out of the bus. Take a break. Its a great time to do your team dinner. We've done special teams callouts or walked through the first offensive plays in a parking lot as well. Keeps them loose, moves them around, and keeps them dialed in a bit mentally as to what we are going to do.
And it helps us as coaches. Anything over 90 minutes and I need to get up haha.
