Newer coach here... don't want to sound like an idiot, but when a coach says 2 or 3 man "surface area", what exactly are they saying? Would anyone be willing to explain this to me as if I'm a 5th grader? I appreciate it, coaches!

A 3-man blocking surface means there are three OL on that side of Center (TE, OT, OG for ex.)

There are no dumb questions. I was well into my coaching career before I heard the above descriptions for the first time.
Most of the posters on coachhuey.com are here to help each other, even those of us (myself and fantom for ex.) who are no longer actively coaching.

I am so glad I found it around 5 years ago when I first decided I was going into coaching and teaching. It is insanely informative, and at times hilarious. It really helped me be informed on some stuff that I had no idea about.

That one came to mind when I read this post.
Football is a very complicated game with a lot of dense verbiage. If you don't know what something means, odds are a bunch of other people don't either. If someone laughs at you for asking, politely invite that person to go {censored} themselves.
