I can't lie, they hooked us up. Did ours last week cause of state testing this week. Delivered sonic drinks to us monday, breakfast cart going to each room on tuesday, homemade lasagna and rolls on wednesday...I was "sick" at a local golf course Thursday and Friday, so don't know what they had those days

We have lunch Wednesday. Jimmy John's sandwiches. That is all. I feel immensely appreciated. Check my last statement because we just got an e-mail saying that we can wear jeans the rest of the week. They did that instead of giving us a Christmas bonus also. I think they overestimate how much everyone really wants to wear jeans to work

The system is letting us eat for free in the lunch room on Thursday.
Our school's lunch ladies, changed the menu to cold cut sandwiches and a bag of chips instead of homemade rolls, mashed taters, and the good chicken.
The woman over our lunch room is a bit of a bitch, if you couldn't tell.

I never wear jeans anymore. UA or Nike slacks are more comfortable anyway. Even if I was still wearing my Wal-Mart khakis its a bull$hit gesture that shows minimal effort to show appreciation. It's like that kid in class that does the bare minimum just to get a D and get out

We got an email that told us all about the impact we make and how important we are. Also the local bond to improve the building got voted down and the state wide raise of 5k that they have been talking about is heading to committee where it will be negotiated down to some drop in the pail number that probably won't come close to covering how much more our health insurance is about to cost. Also involved in that legislation in a program that would allow for merit pay awards that go to "top teachers" which pretty much means that all the people who teach those AP/Pre-AP classes and whose kids pass that standardized test at a high percentage will get a bonus, while those of us who teach knuckleheads will not.
Awesome
but hey....got that email
side note: I never understood why they always want to tie merit pay to testing results. Everybody knows that's stupid, just give the administration of the building a set amount and have them give out the money as they see fit, they know who is actually working and who is a chitbird....The concern there is that it wouldn't be fair because administration would just give the money to people they like...but last I checked that's pretty much how every private company operates since the dawn of time and it's way better than the alternative. I mean, If a few thousand bucks was on the line, I could see how a teacher less scrupulous than me might throw out the entire curriculum and spend the whole semester on nothing but test prep looking to buy a new waterbed or something.
Anyway happy teacher appreciation fellas, if nothing else sets your mind at ease, know that I..a random dude on the internet, definitely appreciate you....unless you are a twitter dude who tries to relentlessly draw attention to yourself then I don't appreciate you at all in fact I think you are killing coaching but the rest of ya'll are cool

I think we have a lunch catered by the culinary arts students. Gonna be a hard pass on that.
After reading some stuff here and other threads about benefits/salary/retirement I could care less what we get for this week, even though we are an inner-city district we are taken care of pretty well in those three areas so not getting a free lunch or pen isn't going to crush me.

My wife told me last night that their admin and school volunteers are making lunch for them and supervising lunch so that all teachers will get a duty free lunch on Friday.
I called down to the office with the afternoon announcements yesterday because they drew me in the teacher appreciation drawing but that was at 3:05 and I had spring practice at 3:20 so whatever I won is a mystery.
My wife has also gotten all kinds of gifts from her students, she does at Christmas too. I am still empty handed for teacher appreciation week and usually get like 2 broken candy canes at Christmas.

Basically, we get a ton of food. I don't think our students even know it's Teacher Appreciation Week honestly, but I don't care. I'm sort of over the fact every job in America now has it's own day or week of appreciation.

I've worked in 3 districts for a total of 7 years. I've received 4 Christmas bonuses. $500, $300, $500, and $750 respectively. 1 district did if both years I was there another district did it year 1 and this year year 3. District 1 was in Oklahoma, District I'm currently in is in Georgia. My other time was spent in Ohio. No bonuses there.
