Just got an email that they have increased storage.. Personally like others have said... do I wanna pay more no... but the storage thing is kinda silly IMHO... all you have to do is download old seasons and save them elsewhere... IF... you go over the hours limit which IMHO is very generous... I love HUDL,not bc I can store 50 years of seasons... but bc I can watch film at home while texting and calling my other coaches while they are at home... bc I dont have to stay up all night and burn DVDs... bc I dont have to drive half way across state to trade film early on saturday after staying up all night... bc I can leave my players notes on the actual film, bc they can make their own highlight tape... bc I can set my playbook up in it and tie it to video clips for the players to study...Do I wish it was free??? YES!!!! but i dont wanna go back to the old way for sure!!!!

As someone who definitely stored like 30 hours of film as "game film" to save space, I understand why they're doing what they're doing...

I think FootballScoop is on the Hudl payroll... Samz was anti-Hudl and now has changed his tune...

Well, at least they listened to their customers. So that's good.

I also think the “misuse of unlimited game film storage” is all an excuse for more $$. You could easily set a limit for game film, say 15 total per season. Problem solved.

I wonder how long it took them to realize programs were uploading everything as game film. somebody, undoubtedly sent them something, by my mistake, that wasnt game film. Why not just add a cloud service. They could offer a terabyte for nothing relatively speaking. I think this would be a really simple thing to do. Offer teams a one-time fee for a permanent amount of storage. I get that Hudl thinks o themselves as a cloud-services company, but maybe they'd be better offer thinking of themselves as a software-as-a-service company and just sell the storage at a nominal cost. Then, when people run out of space, there's no bitching.
But what do I know, they're the ones with the huge successful company.

So has anyone decided to go rogue and jump ship?
We have an all league meeting Wednesday (32 teams) and I’m going to ask the same question.

Anyone else get the email yesterday about how much over you would be with the new system?
We do not hoard video or falsely label things as games; and we had 243 hours of the 200 already used. Before we even get into spring ball and next season....
10 years, Three teams(Frosh/JV/Varsity), playoff games, Varsity multiple angles. ( with new system it penalizes teams for going into playoffs-more games= more hours used).
I believe separate coaching notes videos, tagged data etc. count as well. I am calling and asking them to run the report again to see if my changes made that much difference....
I do not have a problem with an increase of money (to a degree) its the storage that is an issue.

After talking with the folks at Hudl, I'd suggest to hold off making any decisions or archiving any games yet. They're looking to make it much easier than the current process. We've already noticed that the game clips are now downloaded in HD (vs standard def). Hopefully they'll maintain our intercuts and possibly data too.

Both the single large, intercut video file and the individual clips are downloaded in HD now. Until a day or 2 ago, the individual clips downloaded in SD for some reason. The challenge we'll still have is restoring a game that has multiple angles. Currently we'll have to manually intercut the clips. Then we'd have to upload the data = huge, time-consuming hassle.
