I apologize if this subject has already been discussed a million times on here, but I am looking for what people have done with their jr. highs in April and May that have been successful. We have been in the weight room since January, three days per week. I am really wanting to get outside and start football but don't want to lose what we have gained. What are you doing or have done that you really like and your kids have responded well to.
Thanks in advance.

Weights & speed training throughout the spring- non mandatory as this is Jr High and is a building block and not grind these kids down to dust.
Few days a week on the field throughout the summer with weights mixed in. We want to teach them and keep it fun at this level.

We were lifting two days a week, then my guys came to me asking to do more. Now we watch film/chalk talk on Mondays. Lift Tuesday/Wednesday. Speed agility and throw the ball around on Thursdays. Only rule is to have fun on Thursdays you must show up 2/3 days of the week. Hope to keep this going all spring and summer.

This is what we do:
1. Monday and Wednesday: Lift 2. Tuesday: offensive emphasis (indy drills and team) 3. Thursday: defensive emphasis (indy and pursuit drill) 4. Friday: COD emphasis (5-6 stations and rotate)
* summer is speed and strength / FB camp towards the end of summer

Track ends for JH the first or second week of April. But yes, they need to run track.
