Looking at reaching out to our alumni and challenge them to sponsor a number on the roster. This would be something like a $100 donation to "reserve" their number or a number as a sponsor. List them as a sponsor in the game program. The money would go to the general football budget and not directly to that player that wore that number. I thought this might be a good and easy way to build some financial support from our alumni. Maybe give them a t-shirt and free pass to games if they wore the shirt stating they were a number sponsor.
Has anyone done something like this? Pro's/Con's??
Thanks! FTTF

Just some thoughts that jumped out (having never been involved in something like this)-- --What would motivate me to sponsor "a number"? If it was the number I used to wear then : A) What if the number is a kid who doesn't see the field? Sure, it seems kind of petty, but I could see issues developing. B) What if the number I wore isn't being used in a given year? C) Pete Rozelle was the NFL commissioner when I was in HS. Therefore, quite a few others have worn that number since I have. So, how would that work as a motivating factor?
It just seems "clunky" to me.
