I got the OK to make one of our extra bedrooms my man cave/football room
What would you include in an awesome football room ?
Thinking L shaped desk in one corner, whiteboard in a wall, big TV on a wall Probably a futon in there somewhere so we could also use it as an extra guest bed if we need one
Just looking for some cool ideas you guys have either done or seen somewhere

You probably already know this, but you have a great wife. Only thing I’d add besides what jjmarzahl said is a whiteboard.

Don’t do the white board... Go with white board paint on a wall!
I love it and would never do a white board again! It will cost you more money than a white board, but it is totally worth it. My kids also have an area on the wall they know they can go draw on, and I enjoy when they leave me pictures haha

Whiteboard for sure. As large of a TV/projector & screen setup as possible. Love Me Wall and bookshelves. I have a corner desk unit from Ikea that works really well. Central computer/screen area, printer area, drawers and shelves and cubbyholes. Works pretty well. Might want to consider a DVD player as there are still those running around out there.
Depending on how much you would want to leave the room when in a heated session to get a water or tea or something would determine your kitchen. I have a mini-fridge, microwave, and electric water kettle here. I make soup and tea, not a coffee guy. If you are in your house those are likely not needed.

I think a comfortable lazy boy recliner chair would be a nice corner piece. There’s times I like to get out from behind the desk and watch some film. It’s like a change of scenery. I will do the stats at my desk because I hand write them. Then I will hop in the chair with wireless keyboard and do my input. Then hop back my desk to draw up the game plan.

That is awesome! Hope we finish our basement before the kids are too old to really enjoy that idea!

i have seen some guys do this, and actually have the white board paint on our wedding registry
just curious as to why you think it is better than hanging a whiteboard on the wall?
Im minimalist, I have a laptop and a storage unit full of stuff Ive collected over the years, each years playbook is in my briefcase with a backup on a thumbdrive

Hindsight being 20/20, we did like you and took a spare bedroom, well now that we have kids and grandparents want to come visit, every visit it becomes more of a spare bedroom and less on an office. So I like that it is the wall because it hasn’t been as issue with it becoming a spare bedroom. I still have tons of stuff up on the wall.
I know they have HUGE whiteboards, but I really like being able to keep everything on “the wall” I really never run out of room. I’m sure a small part of it is the kid in me liking being able to color on the wall too.
I like that you don’t have to mess with the board sticking off the wall a little bit.
Maybe it’s not a huge difference, but I know if I had to do it again, I’d choose a wall over the board.

I have to second (or third?) the fridge. Recently moved into an apartment with my girlfriend and she gave me the spare room too and that's the one thing I'm missing and I hate having to get off my ass to walk the thirty feet to the kitchen for an adult soda.
We have an extra bedroom that is the “football room” (my wife is awesome). 4 reclining theater chairs and a projector hooked up to Apple TV and Chromecast. I also have football memorabilia on some walls.
I have a whiteboard on the wall, but the paint intrigued me. My wall is textured. I can’t imagine that’s easy to right on, no?
If you paint the wall here is an idea if you want to go this far. Grid the wall after you paint it. It’s an old RnS thing but it allows you to get exact spacing on everything. Depending on how much wall you do you could grid part of it and not the rest. You can basically grid it with a pencil.
Other upsides to paint is it’s a lot easier to move and mount than a whiteboard. You also have more control over the shape if you ever wanted to. You could place multiple ones also with less hassle.

A projector would give better resolution than a tv but the picture is only better if it’s aimed properly at a good screen.
If you have a big, uninterrupted wall make that both the white board and the projector screen and put the effort in so it’s really well lined up.
Putting a grid is something I’d definitely do. Probably yeah 1/2” grid, so it would be 27” for a full field, and you can get several field widths drawn in. It really depends on how crazy you’re willing to go.
If the cost is reasonable consider the entire room as a whiteboard

Don't get too established in there young man. Your 72 inch TV and whiteboards will soon be replaced with a crib and a lamb hanging on the wall that says "Sweet Dreams" while your shyt gets moved to the garage.

Have a landline red phone, like the phone to call the President. Also get a foot massager. I would rather have multiple smaller screens than one big one. But if our teaching in Antioch still your probably making enough money to get both.

5 man sled. Ball on the end of a stick. Kegerator. Pictures of legendary coaches. A TV looping on air raid videos 24 hours a day...like a shrine. Endless napkins (for play drawing...like at clinics). Gatorade and Advil.

This was going to be my original comment until I saw someone had already posted it...
We got a mini-fridge for our coaches office at school and between the boosters and the assistant coaches we would keep it stocked up with bottled water and gatorade during the season. That was a godsend during the hot months.
If I had a home office I'd probably want a coffee maker in there for sure and maybe keep some snacks on hand - apples, granola bars, etc.

Interesting the intersections of my life's threads right now. Reading about the ideal coaches office and dealing with my mother's estate......
She had a little home office sent up: computer cabinet, etc...... I can't give that stuff away and it is really nice pieces of furniture. Nobody wants that stuff anymore.
Anyhoo, my set up is a club chair and ottoman/coffee table in the corner of our living room. Backpack, legal pads & pens, laptop.
I have a semi-finished basement that is right 1000 sq ft, but that is my pouting room.
