Our boys were in their SIXTH straight state championship finals last night. We won last year, but unfortunately lost to a better team last night. We had beaten them once during the regular season but that is the third time they defeated us. And yes, our whole team lifts weights!!
Our girls won and are back to back to state champs and have won three out of the last four.
Allow me to be a proud dad for a moment. After all, being a father is truly my number 1 job.
My son took 15 offensive fouls (charges, over the back, pushes) in the three games of the state tournament. If you have ever coached or played bball, you know how unbelievably impressive that is. That might be some kind of national record (doubt anyone keeps track of that though - lol). He walked out with three ice bags on him.
He has been selected to play in the all-star game of all three major sports. He made the junior all-star game in baseball last Spring, football all-star game this Fall, and has been selected to the basketball all-star game. He somehow also has time to hunt, fish, bowl, play video games, and have a girlfriend.
To my daughter. She now has three championship rings, has been named to the Final Four all-tournament team three times winning MVP once and has scored over 1000 points in her career. She is a current FRESHMAN.
She has been so blessed to play with some amazing girls including the Alabama women coach’s daughter, an Alabama mens assistant coach’s daughter (who currently plays at Bama), and Alabama/Miami football asistant coach’s daughter who signed d1 this year. My daughter also played on an AAU national championship team.
When they lost in the semi’s two years ago she had the flu and the other great player was throwing up. They had a 14 point lead, but just ran out of gas.
Oh by the way, she probably broke her shooting hand wrist (hairline) in the semi’s Friday night and finished with 20. Played in the championship game like nothing was wrong. Didn’t even tape it up.
Thanks for listening to me brag.
