What are some things that high school programs can do to help bridge the camp between middle school programs and youth programs?

I think the best thing you can do is to create and maintain a professional and friendly relationship with the middle school feeder and local rec league coaches. I wouldn't force your offense or defense onto them, but offer yourself and staff as a resource. If they see you perform well they're going to be more likely to run at least some aspects of your program. We had our middle school coach come with us during two-a-days and bring the kids who were coming to our school out on Friday nights.

We go down during the spring and have a meeting with the current 8th graders who will be potential players for us. We go over expectations and give them a summer calendar. We have an open door policy for the middle school coaches. They can come to practices, camps, film, meetings, etc.

There's dozens of threads on this, mostly it comes down to not belittling or alienating the other coaches.

Teach the weight room, get them in there, teach form alot, but also make it fun so they look forward to it. It will benefit you in the long run.

I teach our MS so that helps. Our MS program wants to align with us so I’ve met with them a few times. Starting in about February I start teaching the WRs and QBs before school our passing game. We meet Friday mornings before school and throw in the gym.

Ways to connect....
We welcome all MS staff and youth director to clinic and all meetings we have. We run youth and MS camp, the MS camp is in conjunction with the MS coaches. We welcome our MS kids in our weight room program doing a readiness program. Our MS is under our jurisdiction (I hire and evaluate these coaches) so they run all of our schemes, I don't believe this is necessary. We work in a world of collaboration and invite the guys to post game and offseason get togethers they are part of our staff.

I was in charge of this at the previous program I was at and went after it full force (a unique situation where we felt like we needed to recruit our middle schools combined with young coach eager to take on a project).
Some things that we did: Facility tour on the last day of the first semester, got their info showed them the building, the uniforms, all the cool stuff Combines at the Middle Schools-we did this before our Middle School Academy, went there and set up a bunch of drill in the gym on a Friday. Went to lunch the day before to find the kids and advertise Visit every team-went to a practice for each basketball and wrestling team to meet the kids/coaches Middle School Academy-did two rounds of middle school camp, one right before spring break, one right before summer Postcards Home-we printed out postcards and sent them home, my goal was to get our camp schedule on every refrigerator in the township.
The biggest thing was to have feet on the ground and go out and meet the kids. I went so far as to take the pictures and make a powerpoint for the coaches to learn their names. I would go through it before camps, can't underestimate the value of knowing a kids name.

The one thing that we do is our coordinators and HC work with the JH coaches during their practice.
