We typically have numbers around 55-75. We don't two platoon. We have offensive part of practice and a defensive part of practice with special teams mixed in. We have been successful but I would still like to see what others are doing Mon-Thurs.
Thanks fellas.

Monday - Film, Lift, Walk-thru of this weeks opponent with formation recognition and top plays. Intro any new wrinkles we are doing.
Tuesday - Lift, Defense practice full pads
Wednesday - Offense practice full pads
Thursday - Walk-thru in uppers so we can still get good handwork and footwork with everything being blown dead quickly.
Friday - Play
Specials gets worked on Monday and Thursday. If we have an issue we feel needs more addressing we will also work it into the end of Tues and Wed practices.
Conditioning wise we condition monday - wed. Dialing it back as we get closer to game day. Also as we go through the year we dial it back.

I do not see the value in what we do on Sundays because as a small school our Mondays are essentially just a walk through because half our team is playing JV.

Monday-During 4th Block--Weights, Last Games Film; After School Game Plan 20ish minutes, practice (pre-practice 5 minutes, warm-up and competition of day 10 minutes, indy 15 both sides, group (always opponent's top calls) 10, inside run 15, 7 on 7 15, team walk-thru as long as it takes usually 5-10 minutes each side (not sure why we do this last after we have done other periods live against opponents' stuff...I should ask actually).
Tuesday--Shells or Full Pads just depends--- Offensive Prepractice 10, Warm up/Comp, 10, Offensive Indy 25, Special Team 10 (I don't know what order they do them because I am with offensive line the whole time), Water Break 5, Defensive Fundamentals 25, Group 10, 7 on 7 10, Inside Run 15, Team 20, End
Wednesday--Shells or Full Pads just depends--- Defensive Prepractice 10, rest of time frames are pretty similar but 7 on 7 becomes total team pass, and inside run has goalline emphasis. After team we do 2-minute drills and Defensive last play of the game.
Thursday Team Walk Through--It's not a pure kick script but we cover each special team, defensive emphasis and adjustments, offensive emphasis and adjustments. Clock control at end of game both offense and defense. Last play of the game offense and last play of the game defense.
Friday Game
Saturday nothing Coaches are expected to get their corrections and next game planning done by 1:30 team meeting on Sunday
Sunday 1:30 Wrap up prior week, Finalize Game Plan, Scout Cards, What will be emphasized in practice plan for upcoming opponent. Can take anywhere from 4 to 6 hours. Haven't ran over since I have been here but they said the year before I got here they went 8 once.

Coach on Saturday and Sunday we give the players the day off. Two years ago I did a lift and film day on Saturday. I found that policing attendance was almost impossible because we have so many kids who have family that believe this year is the year for the Tennessee Vols and they have to be at every game. So I dropped that this year and now on Sunday me and the other coaches will just meet for a couple of hours to talk over the game plan for the next opponent and what we need to improve on from the previous week.

When I was most successful we had our harder practices on Monday and Tuesday and then start to loosen up Wednesday and Thursday. As an assistant coach I’m in a system where we do very little on Monday and Thursday.

Monday- JV game, lift, install, fundamental drills, conditioning.
Tuesday- defensive group, general team defense, long and short yardage team defense, inside run team offense, kick return and punt team.
Wednesday- specific team defense sessions (base, stop calls, drives), outside run and pass team offense; we go back and forth between offense and defense with SPT (kickoff, punt return, FG) mixed in as transitions. Also, short lifting session follows.
Thursday- RUN through everything, cover literally EVERY possible situation in a game-like manner, go from warm up all the way to the post game talk.
