Exactly like the title says -- What are you looking to studying this off-season? Any certain teams or schemes (I.e; Iowa State Defense, Sean McVay's Offense, UCF's Offense, Houston's Offense, etc.)?

I'm retired but this "no position" defense intrigues me.

I'm retired but this "no position" defense intrigues me. Are you referring to the defense that Travis Johansen is running at Grand View University currently? I'm looking into doing a deep project on it at some point. Something tells me it's similar to what Iowa State is doing w/ their "Dime" package.

McVay and Briles offensively. Wanting to learn more about OL play.
Defense- looking for looks against the Wing-T. With our new district we could face like 6 Wing-T teams. We currently run an under vs it but with that many on our schedule we'd like to find some different looks.
Looking for some blitz heavy 4-3 looks.
Also looking to see how people simplify their defense.
DB play

Single Wing and it's many variations.

Michigan's QB run game. To me, it appears to be largely one play they're using to get Patterson involved, but it may be something we can incorporate into our offense.

Still curious.

Ways to help a short quick QB in the "spread offense "
We have traditionally had a tall gunslinger that wasn't very mobile. We have lots of skill returning and a good little system we have in place. We want to add some wrinkles for him and tweak some things due to his running abilities, decision making, but a lot smaller in stature but don't want to rock the boat to much.

I’m not focusing that much on scheme, but I’ve been diving into to Iowa St’s Dime stuff and i’d Like to know more about the “positionless defense” concept, too. So far I’ve only scratched the surface on the first and I can’t find any specifics at all on the second. I’m also trying to dig deeper into special teams.
Most of the stuff I’m looking at are more about efficient practice and offseason training strategies, I’ve been intrigued by a lot of the new-school “prioritize speed and recovery” strategies for offseason training and practice, but in reading up on it I’m still not completely sold on some of the specifics.

methods of gameplanning and preparation on offense....have all the Bill Walsh books and other ones on the topic, want to be more situational in practice and have more decisions made before kickoff on Friday nights

Special teams is another area that I really need to do a better job. If you have any materials that you find that are beneficial please share.

I am a Murphy Shotgun wing guy. This past year I had a coupe of really good tight ends. This coming year we will struggle at the position so I am planning on looking at some shotgun/pistol wing t so we can spread it out some more. Currently looking at some Rick Stewart stuff. I think it will merge in nicely with what we already do.

Becoming a better O line coach. Tried using McNally’s double under/ tip of the spear type blocking technique this year and I felt it made us worse and less physical as linemen. Looking into the Ed Wariner DVD’s and looking for other ideas on how to get my O line to be tail kickers for 5-6 physical seconds each snap. I need to become a better line coach if I want my kids to be better linemen.

I read somewhere once "It's not what the coaches know, it's what the players know".
In my case, it's more "not what I know, it's what the AC's and players know". I realized not too long ago that it doesn't matter how much I enjoy learning new things if my AC's and players don't know/can't teach the basics we are trying to teach. Instead of learning new things this year, my focus was going to be a "trickling of knowledge" helping teach AC's what I already do know so they can teach it to players. But it doesn't help when they are only willing to do football in-season and check out after practice hours. Its either that or a new staff. Like a lot of you, I am a football nerd and will do the studying/learning but seems to be a futile endeavor.

Hoping to get testes deep into some Air Raid and Delaware Wing-T stuff. Christmas list for my families' Secret Santa was nothing but football books from Amazon and a WAZZU hoodie. Going to keep studying the 3-5 defense and at some point this winter completely re-do my powerpoint from this pre-season.
Hoping to visit some coaches this off-season, check out at least a couple bowl practices and of course Glaziers... oh and I need to find a coaching job in my new city.

Also want to study what to do with undersized dl. Lean into it. Last night we terrorized a team with multiple kids over 250 on the OL with our DL tipping the scales at: 190, 185, 175, 165. SPEEEEEED.
