Anyone have successes/failures worth sharing in preparing to play the same team in the first round of the playoffs that you just played in the last week (or one of the last weeks) of the regular season?

We get a playoff re-match with a week 6 opponent that took us to the woodshed...at least their home field is so {censored} they opted for a neutral site game on turf about 12 miles away. My HC / OC also knows he could’ve done so much better on O & agreed to be much more aggressive on D so we’ll see how it goes!

Depending on how you're first game went look back on your game film and see what plays worked the best. Try and run the same plays but maybe dress them up a little different. Also look for complimentary plays to your best plays (or plays they think are your best). So for example if you killed them with a tunnel screen in the first game, they are probably cognizant of that, so now for the upcoming game add in a shot play off of the tunnel where you fake the tunnel and have the slot wr block and go. I guess my main point would be to run the stuff that worked best against them last time, and now add in a protection for some of those plays that you think they are going to key on.

We haven't done back to back....but at least 3 times with only one week in between. First one, we one regular season close....blew them out in playoffs. The other two, we lost close games in last regular season game, but won 2nd round playoff games both times. The second two were wing T, second time around our kids had it figured out better

Yes, we were significantly better than them but we were fighting a lot of injuries. Beat them soundly both times and just tried to stay healthy and do what we do.

We once played a team on the final game of the regular season, the 14th game for the division championship, and the 1st game of the following season. That's the same team, 3 times in 6 games. We won all three games. Close games, too! We didn't change a thing, but they showed 3 different defensive fronts. I believe our success was to keep doing what we do. Their failure I think, was in trying to change defenses.

Funny thing happened in our state playoffs this week. A team that got destroyed in the final week of the regular season turned around a week later in round one and beat the same team from the week before.

Played a team week 8 and then the first round in the playoffs (week 10 for us). Week 8 we stomped them 41-0. We jumped up early and our kids played outstanding. To keep our kids from getting over confident during week 10, we watched their D1 QB's highlight and their D1 D-End's highlight. I also put together about 10 clips that could have been huge plays for them that could have changed the outcome of the game. The second game was much closer 27-0.

Had a playoff rematch one year against the #2 team in our conference (our playoff system was even weirder then). In the regular season, we were down 35-0 early to that team, but then came back to almost win in the final 2 minutes. We failed on a 4th down conversion from the 15 with 30 seconds left. In the playoffs, we had a much better feel for them and were hungrier with some defensive adjustments they hadn't seen (a lot of stemming and some new looks), so we came out of the gates and were beating them... until late in the 4th when our defense just got tired and they busted out some weird formations that we struggled to adjust to. Here's what gave us the most problems on the final 2 drives: .................X...T...C...G...G...T...T...Y .....................................................W... .....................T....Q They busted this out in the 4th quarter and just ran a lot of Outside Zone, Trap, and QB Iso. It was a real b*tch to line up to without seeing it before because our base unbalanced adjustment, which they had seen on film (just slide the front over a man to the strength and treat it like double tight), still left us outflanked by the 8th man on the LOS and the WB to the strength. That forced us to put DBs on the LOS to account for the 10 gaps and they just got ran over.

Did it once couple years back... Played our rival last week of regular season, got matchedup with them week 1 of playoffs... reg season game i was close for while and they ended up beating us pretty bad. playoff matchup, we added a couple wrinkles that they hadnt seen and showed our kids how if they had trusted the plan more we would have won the week before. Won be 7 in playoff game

did it last year. Lost the game to end the regular season 34-6 in a rain soaked crap fest. It was actually pretty close until late. Next week went down 20-7 and then scored 42 unanswered. Won 49-28 and went to the regional finals. I wasn't at the game because my daughter was being born. I need to time my martial activities better it seems.
