We have a bye in the 1st round of the playoffs.
How would you guys approach this week in terms of practice planning?
Would you take a day(s) off?
Would you make practices shorter?
Greater focus on game film throughout the week?
We know we're playing either Team A or Team B.....do you practice 1 day against Team A's offense and defense, then the next day against Team B's systems?
Any insight would be much appreciated.

We always took Monday off and bumped practice back a day, Tuesday would be a typical Monday practice and so on. Conditioning changed during the bye week. Normally we don't condition Thursdays, but during the bye week we would condition hard on Friday. The boys would have Saturday off.
Practice wise it was a lot of individual and fundemental work.

We have a bye week this week (still regular season for us). Going to lift and watch films Monday, give the kids Tuesday off, lift and practice Wednesday and Thursday (like Coach Tua, a lot of indies and fundamentals). We're gonna give them a three-day weekend (their chance to make a college visit, etc.), and hope to come back strong and refreshed on Monday.

If I remember right, when we had a bye the 1st round of playoffs six years ago, we took one day off. I think we had two days of practice before we knew who we'd be playing in the 2nd round, so we spent a lot of time on Indy/fundamentals. For Team D, we repped our base defense against both teams' offenses. One team was spread and the other was Wing-T, so we spent a little more time on Wing-T.

We played on a Wednesday, then came in and watched film on Thursday morning. Then because in MN we have Thursday and Friday off school for what amount to a fall break we gave the kids that time off. When we came back Monday and Tuesday we spent a lot of practice on individual work, tackling, fundamentals. If I recall correctly we probably ran "20 good ones" in Team O and skipped team D except for maybe an alignment period.

We have before. Monday Friday off. Believe went full pads Tues with Wed Thrs just shells. Didn't know who we played so just repped our stuff against base fronts and did our drills to stay sharp.

This was a few years ago and the regular season, right before the first conference game, but we literally did not practice the entire week, just lifted and a little conditioning/agility work. We were all a little worried about doing this but we were beat up and didnt want to get anyone hurt, week of the game,we had the best week of practice and played our best game.
