I genuinely wonder who of the coaches on this board actively moderates this board nowadays. Certain topics are getting out of hand, (narcissistic coaches, CTE Crap) yet are not moderated, while others are/were clearly in the incorrect categories and not being repositioned properly. When Coach Huey himself was on here, he used to be the first one to take action, to keep the subjects and discussions stricter to football and nothing but that. While it's not a real issue yet, I do know it will become a problem if we keep it all as it is right now. I liked the stricter moderation, as it put our focus to the topics that actually contributed to making us better coaches. Don't want to cut down on the fun though!

Most mods are active coaches so they're busy. I'm reired but I've been bouncing back and forth between my elderly, ill mom and new grandson. Sorry.

No apologies necessary, fantom.
Some of us can definitely relate.

FWIW, I don't really view it as a problem as it is now, or even if it continued. This is a professional board, not that we all behave professionally, rather we all share a same profession (coaching). And as such it really limits the trolling nonsense you get on other 'fan-type' boards. The pissing contest arguments of semantics brought up in the two aforementioned threads are such a small part of what goes on here that they can be easily glossed over if anyone wants to.
I would hate to see the few pages of nonsense cause the pendulum to swing to extra-moderation, which is in no way needed.

Personally, while some threads can get ugly at times... if you don't like it, nobody's forcing you to reply.
Overall I think this board is still great and is easily the best board for football coaches on the internet as far as learning and discussing the game at the HS level and beyond. It has its own character and "culture," if you will, but so does every other board on every other topic.
Until we start getting obvious troll or fan BS threads running unabated, I'm cool. Thank you, mods, for keeping all that stuff in check.

Touche! I’m cool if everyone is cool with it as it is now.

Although I agree there is some obnoxiousness going on those threads, there is also some valuable information to be gleaned from it. This site has never been "overly-moderated" but some sites are and there's good advice lost when threads are locked. The simplest solution is to block those individuals that don't contribute to threads in a constructive manner. Their posts don't appear on the thread and they cannot respond to any of your posts.

It's a lot of work, and a mostly thankless job. Moderation comes to people's att'n only when they have a complaint. It bothers people when something is either removed or not removed.

One of my father's favorite bromides was "All things in moderation." And I guess that includes moderation.
