fleck lovers are people who are on their 3rd or fourth pyramid scheme even though they never made any money still thinking that this is their big chance to be their own boss and drive a dodge stratus if only they bring enough positive attitude and doggone enthusiasm! Shut. It. Down.

Not really coach speak but more clinic talk / experience. Drives me NUTS when you listen to a guy giving a clinic and he says "My guys are no different from your guys, just average HS kids and blah..blah" then puts the tape on and the '85 Bears pi$$ themselves a little. I know many of these teams are still well coached but the tagline of we have guys just like everybody else when you don't annoys me. Nothing wrong w/ having talent. When we're up I say it. Ain't takin' credit for all the wins nor blame for all the losses. Once heard the De La Salle DC, Eidson tell an entire room “We have the same guys you do” during his clinic talk. R u kidding me! I heard the same thing. He then proceeded to show us his 2 mammoth defensive ends who would play a 7 tech controlling C gap and also beat the Running back to the sideline on any outside run. We dont get those kind of kids.

Disclaimer: I have nothing against Don Brown
Haven’t heard it much on social media lately but there was a period of time when seemingly every DC at glazier or a Twitter was a wannabe Don Brown. “Defense has to be the dudes of the team”, “You can’t play this side of be ball if you’re not a dude”, “I tell the head coach give me 11 dudes and the rest of team can go play offense or ST”.
Like wow, getting good athletes is a real novel idea. It’s even more amazing that a guy who coaches at a school with an entire campus of 4 and 5 star athletes said it.
And then to make it worse, there would be a clip of Brown saying a generic coachspeak quote and it would get retweeted a billion times. If the HC of Bumblescum Nowhere State said it, nobody would think about it for a second.

Anything that came out of Knoxville,TN the past 5 years. "Champions of Life" "Five Star Hearts" "Leadership Reps" ugh...I never even heard the term "leadership reps" and it killed a little bit of my soul when I read it PJ Fleck I have an irrational hatred for...he seems like the type of dude that would tell everybody's girlfriends/wives what they did at a bachelor party because he is their friend too and feels like it was the right thing to do I frequent the message boards of a few different schools in the SEC (Texas A&M and LSU mostly) just to kill time and get a college fb fix, and you have no idea how hard up some of their fans were to try and get fleck hired "we this kind of passion man!..look at him! he's running around saying big quotes and there's inspiring music and players are all crying and stuff" the kind of people who like fleck are the ones that love it when the staff development speaker does that stupid "oooooh I think we can do better that THAT!...I SAID GOOD MORNING TEACHERS!!"...and the fleck lovers are the ones who whoop and holler and crap pretending to not be pissed that school is about to start and we are in the stupid meetings fleck lovers are people who are on their 3rd or fourth pyramid scheme even though they never made any money still thinking that this is their big chance to be their own boss and drive a dodge stratus if only they bring enough positive attitude and doggone enthusiasm! there is no escape 2 things- 1. I can't like this tweet enough times. 2. For some reason, I am blocked by PJ Fleck on Twitter despite having never met him, or tweeted anything about him.

His comments about a wedding were hilarious, but I have to say that I’m over all of the media antics of Mike Leach. Mike Leach is the 🐐 Edit: I want to sit and drink beer with him and Spurrier I want to see a segment where they ask Saban the same same questions they ask Leach. I always love hearing Leach’s answers then imagining how Saban would have handled the same inquiry.

I became suspicious of him when he took the Minnesota job after they fired Tracy Claeys since they are both part of the Jerry Kill coaching tree. I don’t know all of the details so I could be completely wrong but that seemed like a sleazy move.

The serious impression that Saban permeates surely is calculated. I still would love to see how he responds to the questions of big foot and cans corn and the like.

I couldn't be around that guy for longer then an hour. I hope he fails miserably so other's don't follow in the PJ Fleck mold. STFU.

Damn, thats disturbing. I am not trying to make light of the #MeToo movement, but there seem to be some similarities in stories and approach. The scary part is the kid said that he was tempted to commit. That’s a prettt big life decision and definitely one you want to sleep on. Hard to blame Fleck though if it works since recruiting is a big part of his job. Doesn’t make him any more likable still.

I have grown to despise, "You are either coaching it that way or you are letting it happen." Um...not really. When you have 17 varsity players and your DE is still jumping offsides 3x a game by week 7 and his backup is a 130lbs sophomore, then that isn't the DE coach's fault!
This one annoys me too.
Maybe I'm thinking about it wrong, and maybe people will tell me why I'm wrong (and that will be an interesting learning opportunity).
But, what this seems to imply to me, is that the players are robots, and you can just input infinite instructions into them like lines of code until you have perfect players
Whereas in my experience, this is really far from the truth, players all have differing levels of instructions they can take and usefully implement, and there's definitely diminishing returns to instructions.
And what separate really great coaches from the not really great coaches are the judgment calls around those questions, 'exactly how much instruction can this guy take?" "Given that judgment, what's the highest payoff instruction that I can give that guy?"
-----
My other thing is, like a lot of these saying, they tend to be a sh*t rolling downhill deal, the head coach says it to the coordinator, the coordinator say to the position coach, the position coach feel like he's got to performatively yell at players so his bosses can see what a great coach he is, and the player is just tuning everything out.
So yeah, that's not my favorite saying

"All night"
"A ton"
As in "If they do that we will run (fill in 'concept' here)..." Idk, we saw on film a team line up a certain way and we literally ran the same play all night long. TB ended up with 550yds essentially on one play. They never adjusted and their school board president told me I was a Dick for running that kid so much.

As in "If they do that we will run (fill in 'concept' here)..." thats always my favorite: "if they are a veer team we just run a 4-4... kills it every time" if you end up saying anything like that, just turn in your clipboard and go to the stands.

I ran Down 13/15 plays to open a game once because there was no point doing anything else. They were denying the Buck Series super hard but never gave any considering to just running off-tackle... HC got mad at me because our HB wasn't involved in the game at all and our FBs were both over 100yds by halftime.

I didn't say not to repeat a successful play until the defense adjusted-stopped it. I did that myself many times over 30 years calling plays.
To do otherwise would be poor coaching.
My point was to describe that tactic with any of those three phrases is cliché to the point of meaningless.

I get what you’re saying. Like in practice when the scout team defense picks a ball off and the OC says” don’t worry about that if he sits like that in a game we are going to kill them with this play.” I’m sitting there like how the hell are you just going to say that when the QB hit the safety in the chest with the ball? It was a terrible read It’s always offensive coaches who say that sh!t

There will be times when something isn't open and I say that should be open in the game and if it isn't, they can't stop this. Happens even more with run game stuff.
