When I was a head baseball coach when I got to my first state clinic, most of the guys were wearing full game uniforms. I thought it was pretty odd. When I got home, I was telling another guy on the football staff that it was pretty weird. He said when he went to the track clinic it was kicked off with a 5k. Football has its fair share of ding dongs but at least there’s not a three mile jog or jock straps.

Never been before. Don't want to look like a slap!!! But don't want to overdress. Why are you going? Talk some ball and drinks a few beers? Wear whatever. If you think there is a possibility you may ask someone at that clinic for a job one day it's a good idea to wear some dress pants and a decent shirt.

I always have a nice pair of dress pants on and then since I work for glazier I wear the shirts that they give us on Friday and Saturday. Sunday I wear an old Glazier shirt and windpants as its get away day and no one is around. Wait. There's a Sunday session?

I'll always tried to go khakis and team polo on Friday, jeans and team polo or random polo shirt on Saturday, and then Sunday is shorts and polo or T-shirt. I also went with the can of chew in the back pocket and backpack to carry my laptop and notebooks to jot down things.

Some portion of your attire must have the word "Coach" embroidered on it. Wouldn't want anyone to think your a test pilot or anything.

One coaching staff...in particular...has a couple dudes that wear...ALL THEIR CHAMPIONSHIP RINGS. They have a fair amount...but I'm talking...wearing all of them at once.
It's basically a dick measuring contest at that point. As everyone laughs at their guys as they go by. Sad creatures.
And to answer OP...I don't care what you wear. Because I don't care what I wear. Whatever is in the bag and clean.

If you want to wear a polo or shirt representing your school that seems to be the trend. My advice is bring something that is not school related for when you go out later (pending how crazy you get). I've never done this, but heard from some "old timers" that have... They used to bring pieces of cardboard and tape, to cover up their school/ district logo on the side of the school van, especially when they would pull into the "Gentleman Clubs"...

A few years ago I took the Head Baseball position at my school out of necessity (nobody was interested). It had been 10 years since I'd coached baseball so I thought I should go to a clinic to catch up with the "times". The first presenter wore his uni, I thought it was a joke to get a chuckle from the crowd, but every other guy did as well, l thought it was odd as too...

Along these lines, I have always argued one of the stupidest rules in sports is that a baseball coach has to be in full uniform. I often have said other sports should have to do it as well. HFC=Shoulder Pads and Helmets HBBC-Old school Larry Bird shorts Head Swim Coach-Swim Suit ladies; Speedo boys But some baseball guys I think just really like to wear the uniform, maybe helps to relive the glory days. Not sure

And y'all have convinced me to update my clinic attire, here goes: Revo speed with tinted visor shoulder pads, mesh practice jersey tied up in front and backplate showing size M athletic shorts when I really need an XL #quadz white nike elite socks white cleats

Maybe a sweat band around the high calf area.

Man I looked good in that headset on the sidelines. My motto was look good, and if we get up by a bunch, I get in and play okay.

Not sure I was so intrigued by this I went and talked to our baseball coach. He said it's the norm. If guys are speaking on skills, they'll wear the uniform, if it's about culture or development, not as much, but then he said some guys just wear them to fit in. He also said he loves to wear his. Not necessarily at clinics and what not, but in general. And if you think about it.. especially if they don't wear the high socks look, its basically just sweatpants with pin stripes

Not really a problem anymore as less & less schools provide transportation.

He got very offended by it too. I think it's super weird.

We had some Nike pants last year that we wore last year. But the 10 years prior to that there weren't always the most comfortable or stylish pants.

Now that I think about it, there are a lot of weird things about baseball that are different from other sports. Coaches dress like players and teams warm up every time there is a change of possession.
Can you imagine the offense running a few plays on air and the defense doing a couple of tackling drills on the field after a punt?
a basketball team gets a defensive rebound and then all of a sudden they do a 2 minute shoot around?

Not to hijack, but I miss the Thursday Night, ALL day Friday, Saturday morning format in St.Louis. Think they did it once, maybe twice. Selfishly I'm still home Saturday afternoon. I wear whatever is comfortable at clinic. As HC, I have a team gear (dont care what) in the lobby, and NOTHING with team gear when we go out

This is what I hate about watching baseball. I agree. Baseball is my true favorite sport and what I was good at, but I get balked at (no pun intended) every time I try to bring some of these ideas up to other baseball "traditionalists": get rid of between inning warm up, other than 3 warm up throws MAX for the pitcher. No mound visits. At all. automatic intentional walk (MLB finally got smart with that one) and here's the one that really makes people think I am nuts....10 run mercy rule after 7, just like NCAA. I am also seriously okay with every major sport here in the US putting advertisements on uniforms if it means less commercials. I just don't care.

The football quirk that is driving me nuts right now is the official reviews that seem to happen at least twice a quarter.
