Does your Admin or AD show up to practice or some kind of event for your football team?
What I am specifically asking...does your Admin/AD come and talk to your team...just in general?
"Proud of you guys and how you handle your stuff around school" etc. Stuff like that.

Came out once or twice during the summer but never during the season. He was also the former HC for two years.

At a private school where I coached the AD never came to practice, only came to games and never spoke to the team. He did the same for the basketball and baseball. Other sports he didn't even bother with.
Public school where I am now the AD is very involved - comes to practice a time or two per week, even during summer. Comes to every game. After walkthroughs on Thursday he talks for 30 second and says things like, "You make me proud to be an administrator at this school, your hard work reflects well on me, you're going to be great men in the workforce someday, etc." I can tell the kids actually feel it is sincere and appreciate it.

Well our AD is out there every single day... because he is our HFC. Old AD came once every couple weeks.
Principal stops by once every couple weeks and watches (retired FB coach). Says some positive things during breaks. Keeps it short and sweet.
Sometimes superintendent or assistant superintendent will watch from a far (played FB but not retired FB coaches) maybe once a month? Just see how we're doing. Practice field isn't far from Admin building. They see us a lot more in the summer. They work out in the weight room before the kids do.
All the admins come to all of our games (and usually any other random event). They are very supportive of the program and we're lucky to have good guys like them in top spots in the district. Been in other places where that was not the case, and it sucked.

In 15 years of coaching at five different programs, I know I could count on one hand the number of times I've seen an administrator at practice during the season. For reasons others have stated, it is a tad more common over summer workouts. All of our high school and middle school administrators will be seen at our home games, but I don't know how many would go if they weren't supposed to be there in a working capacity. No one other than the AD goes to our road games.

If ANY administrator shows up to our practice, it means our HFC is in trouble! 😂

We do not have an AD, only a coordinator. She has never been to a practice. Usually a principal strolls out once a year.

Our HC is our Asst. Principal over curriculum. As far as the AD goes he rarely ever comes out and never talks to anyone unless they are getting pulled for a random drug test. We have that at our school and it hurts us!!

Our AD is never at practice unless she needs something from the HC and then it's usually in and out. She works in the school and talks to kids all the time, I guess none of us work at school, always at home games along with other admin. She's a coach herself and gets it so it has been a good deal so far.

At my last stop, where I spent over half of my career, the HFC was the AD so that doesn't count. At that place the principal used to watch practice from time to time. At the others the AD and principal usually came to games. I don't recall seeing them at practice very often.
As for addressing the team, It may have happened once or twice but I don't remember any off the top of my head.

We have an AD and an athletic VP. Athletic VP was a FB coach here last year, he's out at practice just watching pretty frequently, but I'm not sure how much of that is in his VP capacity and how much of that is him being a football guy watching practice.
Our AD is at all the games but he coaches a fall sport so he's busy during our practice time.
Both have addressed the team a couple times this year, 3 of the 4 total were early in the season and were of the "keep up the good work" variety. The other time, not so much.

Our AD was popping in every other day at the beginning of the season but I get the feeling there were complaints from parents. He showed up to see how practice was going and to shoot the breeze but he was never intrusive. I had one AD who NEVER showed up to practice but managed to find something to b-tch about every week. Equipment wasn't being put away, the game field was being trashed, the locker room was left open, kids were tracking mud across the gym, etc..etc. None of this was actually going on as it turned other folks with keys were either in the building or digging around in our equipment shed and kids from the community were playing around on our field at night.
I finally shot him an email and asked him to start showing up for for the full practice to see what was going on. He got angry and said he that wasn't going to "babysit". I went into his office and told him that there was ONE solution to all of his problems and that was for him to be there and see what was actually going on. He just got more angry and told me to get out of his office. So, I sent him an email, CCed the principal to it and told him that I wouldn't respond to any of his complaints until he actually came to practice and could prove that the football team was causing issues. He was livid and I ended up in a meeting with him and the principal; the principal backed me up.

If a principal shows up at our practice that usually means that one of our kids is in trouble. We rarely have anyone watching practice.

My former super who was here my 1st 5 years and hired me was an old school football player and coach. He loved football. He would stroll out to practice occassionally. We played for state titles in both 2014 and 2015. Each time he asked if he could come talk to the team during the week. He had been a stud rb on a team that lost a state title by one point his sr year. Both times the kids loved the visit. They knew he cared and loved fb.
When we won state in 14, it was the 2nd title in school history and 1st in 35 years. We surprised him with a ring and he was stunned. He left for a bigger better job last December. He was a great one to work for.

In the last five seasons I've seen the AD at practice once, when he came to ask me how to flip a video that was shot landscape but saved portrait.

The only time I ever saw an Administrator in 30 plus years was if a kid or Coach was in trouble. Occasionally an AD would wander by, but that's about it.

Our AD comes to the field everyday. Doesn't address the team unless there is something coming down from admin of the school. We host a team dinner Thursday after practice that he usually attends. President/General of the school (military boarding school) comes over once every couple of weeks but is at almost every game including away games. General addresses kids couple of times a season.

My AD is a former Baseball Varsity coach so he "gets it". He actually knows the names of all my coaches, even the paraprofessionals that show up at 3pm each day. I'd say that he walks thru our practice 2-3 times a week. He has observed every coach during individual drills. Bottom line - he knows I run a pretty good practice and even though we struggle at times, he's behind what we are trying to do.
He is realistic with expectations and knows we do not have the horses. He is also a straight shooter with any issues about parents or players.
Im fortunate.
At my last stop, my AD never came around and didn't know my coaches. I was relieved of my duties lol.

I have learned more about football talking to our AP during lunch duty every day than you could imagine. Former HC, DC...has been huge in my growth as a young coach. Good to have admin be "one of us".
